  1. Lightforce 140 with 100w bulb (near enough same beam as 170 but smaller unit and easier to work with) and variable power a must for a good few reasons!
  2. I think they are one of the best crosses for a good alrounder! the two pure deerhound and ghound are made for crossing.
  3. Dava Have a box full but takes an age scanning!
  4. I have had two and a mate has had one, all top drawer! Beerdie crosses, feet like iron, bags of brains and game as lions.
  5. Gaffer I have couple of pure deerhounds you are more than welocome to come watch them work this season.
  6. Listen guys, I ain't saying no deerhounds work or doxhope ain't any good, what I am saying they are designed to work on hill ground and there is no point in using a pure deerhound for anything else than hill ground. I would be very surprised if any pure deerhound in the uk could out match a good lurcher at it's job, they won't get near a beddy/whippet for rabbits or a saluki type on hares they even struggle on lowland deer compared to lurchers. I am a deerhound fan but I am realistic at the same time, good fun but will always come up short unless used on the hill. There are a few t
  7. Buy a first cross collie/gray for rabbits, waste of time trying to keep a working strain by running them on rabbits in grass parks they will never show you if they are up to the original job so whats the point?? Seen your doxhope dogs run few times on white hares, In my opinion they done well but no better or worse than most of the more serious coursers dogs on the hill. Am I write in saying they originated rosslin bred dogs?
  8. Deerhounds are designed to run the Scottish highlands the highland ground is the worst running ground for a dog imaginable and you cant appreciate it unless you see it and try to walk it. They are big dogs that have to be very durable with good feet and plenty of stamina to run red deer over horrendous ground they after the chase they need to keep them at bay until the owner catches up or they have to try kill them, hard job never mind after 10 min chase over highland ground. When people say someone has working deerhounds they are small and racy made! not sure they are traditional work
  9. I for any reason you raise your voice maybe not even at the dog you dont want it running away pissing its self! Think that what he means
  10. pac dog but take some advice of them 1st mate they will probably tel ya the best way to do this as ya carnt just put them on and shock away pal they have to be introduced with a dummy collar so they don't think its the collar and play up [bANNED TEXT] they don't have it on if ya get my drift. they are in the country mans weekly buddy but i would take advice 1st mate atb G If you follow the instructions the sporting dog rechargable are spot on, after one or two shocks you will maybe never need to shock them again, as soon as they hear the tone they will be quiet even if they dont have co

  13. Suppose someone gotta give bull crosses a good home!!
  14. Your dog may still have it but soon most will loose it, not just you 99% of the breed in UK will end up looking the same but with no prey drive! Shame, even if you stock break your young one chances are it will follow suit if older one chases sheep!
  15. That's the problem with dogs now, working dogs are in pet homes being told not to do what has been bread into them for ever!! Why get a saluki? Because they look good? Better with a lab, get it retrieving let it do s bit raking! As for the stock breaking the old fellas would break a stick over a dogs back if need be, problem with today's dogs are they aren't made 100% sure who the boss is!!! Sorry if I upset anyone but soon working instinct will be a thing of the past!
  16. £200 would buy you someone's shite! Rear your own, if you where fortunate enough to get the chance of a good dog you would be paying more than that..
  17. Totally agree flat out hyper first season waste a lot of energy but second season different ball game, once they settle down they are far more enjoyable to work with.
  18. Her toes never been out mate, only injury either the two have had was a broken tooth, her feet very tight under the hair. Her feet turn out her mouth is a bit over shot and after a hard day she looks like a bit road kill but I dont mind I bought her to work

  20. Bunny serial killer 21", this dogs a star lamping superb to watch the brain power and real good ferreting dog marks 100% retrieves the ferrets to hand if they go missing in cover, hard as nails never injured. This wee dog can find game like a spaniel and never stops untill she does, pain in the arse for the first 10 months but when you learn how to work their mind they are superb. She has filled out a bit from them pics carrys a bit more build now. My mate has its half brother 25" good all rounder not as good as my bitch at the ferreting but still good and I dont think its as good
