  1. Hi Edenman, Yes factory loads. To be honest if I where to home load I would blow myself up. I am not good with things like that. I keep trying to get a mate of mine to take it up so he can load for me. He is thinking about it so I will give him a prod and get him loading 10 bore carts!
  2. All I meant Tom is that imho steel can not come close to lead but if your happy then thats all that matters. No offense. My biggest problem with steel is that when I have used it I have hit ducks and had them come down but not dead which worries me.
  3. In fairness guys I dont pay any ware near that much. I have a very good mate in the trade Have just got a 10 bore and will be firing, I hope, power shot home loads next year. If not I will get either some hevi or stick to the HD. Now through the 10 that could get real pricey!!! Tom I cant agree with you. I have not seen anyone knock out ducks at 50yards+ with steel and I have shot a good few this year that I would have never put my gun up to with steel regardless of the type, size, load. I have seen to many take all 3 barrels and fly on and that to me is not acceptable. Maybe its my sho
  4. Had a grate season in Sussex and a couple of flights in kent. 40 duck shot below the sea wall. Made a hell of a difference changing to HD in December from steel. I will not be going back regardless of price. I have also had 3 firsts this year. First cock pintail, gadwall and my first pink, shot under the moon when I had the hole marsh to my self. Total kills to cartridge was just over 2.5/1 so very please at that but I would have shot a hell of a lot more duck if I had started shooting with HD in September. Teal numbers where well up in sussex from last year but hardly any geese seen. In f
  5. Might be a little far for me to travel. I live on the south coast but what the name of the place? they might have a web site. Cheers Spike
  6. Semi Auto 10 bore wanted!! Hi all. I am after a 10 bore semi. Either a SP10 or a browning gold. If you can help please let me know. Thanks Spike
  7. Your not alone. We are well down this year and its not just us. The duck have just not arrived yet hear. Our small lake is fed for duck and they usually come from the "big" lake where the roost but there are hardly any duck there either. There is a good mile between the two.
  8. Just make sure your stop whistle is 100% and I mean 100%. Then take him and do one or two drives and then back in the car for the rest of the day. It is always those who do too much that come unstuck when the dog is young. Nice and easy is the way to have a dog you can be proud of for the rest of his life.
  9. Chap have sent you an e mail. Just waiting for you to get back to me.
  10. I have also seen this stuff. A customer was using it. It is some sort of rodent poison but no idea what the active ingredient is.
  11. The shit really will hit the fan soon. NPTA and BPCA have released a joint statement telling all pesties not to buy them. There on there way out as quick as they came in I think.
  12. Mail sent. Good idea When you think what you would pay yell.com etc £55 is nothing. Spike
  13. Christ! You cant find what you want on the links above? Buy a shooting time. loads of ads but if you are after something for nothing then I think you should save up a bit of cash and buy a good quality, kc reg, docked and micro-chipped pup. There is very little money in puppies if they are done right. You can pick up good ESS pups for £350. Not much if it gives you 8-10 years of service.
  14. Holland, I have only ever used decoys on a pond to give the ducks confidence on a flight night but if your pond does not usually get any duck on it in the winter then I think that popping a couple of 'coys on there to get them in and feeding is not a bad idea. I would not put them right in the feed area but to one side. Once you have a couple feeding I would remove the decoys and just start building up the numbers by feeding just enough. I usually start to see a few "home grown" mallard dropping in to our ponds around late august and then I start to feed and build it up to a good amount by mi

  18. Best I have seen is 197 woodies for 212 shots Shot by a mate of mine on winter rape. I shot 115 for about 150 shots. I cant shoot like him. Over that year we really went at it and shot well over 4,000 woddies and I think we were shooting about 75-% over the year. Not bad but I would not/could not do it again. Spike
