  1. I've seen at least 6 different foxes on my permission that I hunt with my air rifle. They are decimating the rabbit population and I want to get rid of them asap. I don't have an FAC so I can't shoot them. I'm sure you get asked this all the time but what's the best and least expensive way to get rid of them? I realise "best" and "least expensive" are words that sometimes don't come hand in hand. Thank you in advance for any replies.
  2. Is that not illegal mate :tongue2:
  3. Where do you guys buy your antibiotics and needles etc? My dad used to inject his own dogs years ago when he had the greyhounds but he's been out the game for a few years now and has lost touch with his contacts. I'm fecked if I'll pay vets prices for purely routine things like this. My dog got bitten by a fox the other night and the vet charged me a fortune for an antibiotic injection for her.
  4. Good read. Curiosity has got the better of me though! I'm curious why you would have a 5p coin when you live in South Africa. I thought your currency was rand?
  5. I'm looking for any land to shoot small game and ferret around the Scottish central belt but anything further afield would be considered. I'm 43, mature and responsible and come from a military background so I'd consider myself proficient in firearms and safety. Thank you for looking.
  6. Air Rifle Shooting or Ferreting wanted in the Central Scotland area or further afield if necessary. I'm mature, responsible and respectful to landowners wishes. Willing to pay if required.
  7. To add to this didn'tthey have a similiar cull in the 60's or 70's where if you took the tail in to a post office you received money? This is what I was told when I was young but I've never seen anything about it. If anyone knows if this story is valid I'd like a link to it please.
  8. Just to add my tuppence worth. Wullie who runs the ferret rescue up here in Bathgate Scotland had two true polecats that were handed in as they were too vicious. If my memory serves me correctly Wullie strongly advised against owning these polecats as they were virtually untameable and he was bit several times in just a few days. Remember it took man thousands of years to domesticate dogs so it'll take more than a few years to domesticate these true polecats. I just don't see the point when there's an abundance of domesticated ferrets available.
  9. Hi Mate, You've been given partly incorrect advice. "They will come into season the year after they were born. The vulva enlarges and peaks at 30 days. The jill is in 'estrus'. Jills are 'induced ovulators' which means that if they are not mated she will remain in season. This can have serious even fatal consequences. She is liable to infection due to the enlarged vulva and due to the continued production of estrogen in her body can lead to bone marrow depression which leads to a form of anemia (aplastic anemia). She will have a slight musky odour during her season. It is imperative t
  10. I'm getting back in to ferreting and wondered the best place to buy nylon, rings etc to make purse nets. I bought some of ebay but after looking at them I'd rather make my own again. Thanks in advance for any replies.
  11. Hello everyone, just stumbled upon this site and it looked good enough to sign up. I used to be in to hunting and fishing from an early age. If I didn't have my air rifle then I had my ferrets/Lurcher with me. However i moved down to London in the mid 90's and obviously that was that. I moved back up to Scotland recently and I'm taking it all back up as it was one of the only things that made me happy as well as thinner lol! I got two ferrets a couple of weeks ago so the first thing I'll be looking at is the best place to buy nylon for making the nets. To think I had hundreds of them a
