    reason i ask is i have 18 month russell out of good stock,great busher but has been to ground three times, and came away twice,its with heavy heart i ask this as ive put a lot of work into this dog, and quite took to the dog had him since six week old,had him out tonight we my black bitch who droppedin a drain with no collar this blackun does not bay so collard the russell up and he entered got a mark of 1 meter after 10 mins he came away so as you can imagine gutted,also im not into working more than one to ground at the same time but needed to be to locate my bitch

    I don't own a terrier and know very little about them and i only hunt with springers, but from what i've heard off a man who hunted rabbits with lurchers is that the jack russells tend to be more suited to working above the ground and flushing rabbits than the patterdales and lakelands anyway, however i don't know why. He said they were brilliant in cover and if there were rabbits there that the jr would put them out. Maybe they're more adaptable or something. Just thought it could be a good alternative to a lakeland terrier if you still wanted those terrier characteristics. pure and utter b
