    I think there is a flaw in Level 1, it is to theory based there should definitely be some practical element to it even if it is one successful stalk. I went to work for 6 weeks whilst away I studied the BDS manual and Dave Stretton's manual, found the answers to the questions and studied those. I then went and did the assessments and shooting tests and passed. Upto that point i had not fired a shot at a deer, had not done a gralloch and other than seeing photos, and watching a dvd. Now someone who has never handled a firearm before (I had) can do the exact same thing then be allowed out to

    I passed 1 last November, have registered for 2 but want to get more experience before doing witnessed stalks, no point wasting an AW's time and my money if I am not at the required standard.

    For muntjac if it has been found injured and then subsequently treated it maybe released as per previous post. Section 16 (4) of the wildlife and countryside act 1981 refers to this. You also do not need the landowners permission

    Thats not true so far as the level 1 questions go. You can release a rehabilitated muntjac back into the wild providing it is within the 12 counties of england and no more than 1km from where it was found, with a permit from natural england. Page of the BDS level 1 manual. To the original poster then answers are on pages 79 and of the BDS manual.

    Hope your mate recover's soon the guy's in the R.A.F. Rescue Helicopter,s are second to none my last Pest/C job RAF Gannet was one of my Routine visit,s and they guy,s dont get a minute as soon as one chopper is in the other is out, there's 3 of them and 1 is getting serviced every trip they do, and work 24 hour's a day Being an ex Navy man it is RNAS Prestwick or HMS Gannet, which is a Royal Navy SAR Squadron not the RAF. Its amazing the amount of people that get that wrong. Hope your mate recovers soon, not a good day today for outdoor people in Scotland.

    When I applied for my FAC, I phoned Pitt Street to ask for the application forms, the person I spoke to there suggested it would be better if I had DSC1 or had proof that I was planning on doing it, at the moment it is not mandatory. When the FLO came round I asked her about DSC1 and she said it makes the application easier to be approved if you have or are doing it.
