Pump!! Takes max 5 mins, never runs out of test, never runs out of air, is really not hard to do, no storage issues, east to throw in the car. at best, you get a mild workout pumping to 200 bar from 50 on a buddy bottle, but on an S400 you'll only need half the effort!

Great buy! Not to sure about the ball cock of a bolt, but that's a personal thing. Have a great time with it!

97 Kt Best Springer Of Them All ?
silentshot1 replied to villaman's topic in General Airgun Discussion
HW 77. 97 was simply the update! -
Hi all My Ledray GL4 has given up the ghost and I am not in a position to sneak even £50.00 past 'she with the calculator' until one of my Clients decides to pay an invoice (joy of self employment)! I remember from previous threads, some of you have found bargain torches with enough power to do the job. Can you recommend any? Doesn't matter if it doesn't last for eternity, just something with an easy on/off switch and a reasonable beam, adjustable would be a bonus. Thanks in advance. James

My tuned 77 loves superdomes in 177. Great pellets.

Never Send A Woman To Buy An Hw98....
silentshot1 replied to Marksman's topic in General Airgun Discussion
Still boxed as well! According to my wife's review of a similar model, accuracy is an issue on those models and POA v's POI is wildly sporadic. -
I've bought used guns almost exclusively, with the idea that they may need a tune or similar after buying, I check chrono results and always prefer face to face. the idea being that if you buy used and expect a tune, you are never disappointed in what you get and things can only be improved on, as my xtx tuned R-10 proves. The other reason I prefer used is that if I buy new, I'll freak when I scratch the rifle/ never take it out in anything other than perfect conditions/ have a break down when a bramble even looks at it! If the gun has a few honest scratches then I simply don't mind!

A Good 177 Hollow Point?
silentshot1 replied to jandcguns's topic in Rifle Reviews, Technical Help and Tips
As above, genuinely won't be as good as a dome. I made the mistake of believing the sales patter of a gunsmith who might as well have been John Wayne who lied out his arse about hollow points! -
Pro Sport Or Hw97K

As a left hander, this Pro sport talk is a bit like finding yourself at a lesbian orgy. Great to look, but no real chance of having a proper go. -

It's been a great day down here near Salisbury. Sunny, warm (if in 5 layers) and successful! -
R10 Or S410F :/ ???
silentshot1 replied to smoothfinish's topic in Rifle Reviews, Technical Help and Tips
The S410 is a cracking rifle, thousands of happy customers can vouch for them and I can't fault my TDR, but for me, the R-10 has it. I know mine had issues before it went to XTX but having had them ironed out, it's simply awesome! The balance of the R-10 suits me to the ground, the weight adds to the accuracy and the reassurance that you have more shots than your average, trigger happy day out would require you to need is a boon. My R-10 is the first PCP I reach for on a trip out. I'd love an S410 classic in addition, but never to replace the R10. -
Me, The Gun, Scope Or Pellets?
silentshot1 replied to bushing lad's topic in General Airgun Discussion
As all have said above, use the palm of your hand to rest the gun on, on top of the sandbag and get some decent pellets. RWS Superdomes work brilliantly in my HW 77 and are a bargain.... Oh, and don't forget to clean the barrel before using the new pellets! -
Bsa Ultra Se Advice And Tips
silentshot1 replied to sparkycrew's topic in Rifle Reviews, Technical Help and Tips
From what I've seen, the Ultra is more than capable but as you mentioned, shot count is low. Simplest way around this is to buy a second hand regged version which has an after market reg fitted and will boost shot count to 65+ shots I believe and a used regged ultra should come in at circa the price of a new one. I use a stirrup pump on my S10 and R10 buddy bottles and can fill from 100 to 200 plus bar in about 5 mins. my AA S410 TDR has a slightly higher shot count than the ultra and takes about a pump a shot so estimate about 35 - 40 pumps if you are using the sweet spot. I know an a -
Utterly amazing guns and a fantastic bargain to boot. Loving the fat kid reference. Stunning rifles with legendary performance.

I sent my R-10 to Darren at XTX for a standard tune and wasn't disappointed! Not only did he explain that the more expensive reg replacement wasn't necessary for my needs, which stopped me spending an extra £75.00, the rifle came back transformed! A brilliant service. You'll be happy one you have got it back.

Glad you're back up and running! Looking forward to hearing how things pan out.

Sounds like your friend needs more time practising on paper and possibly with different pellets before he tries shooting anything else live.
-
As Davey says, keep the 100 and I'd buy the 77 and then that or the tuned when funds allow! I love my 77 but wouldn't want to be without a multi shot PCP and would love an as I don't have a quality break barrel at the moment.

Brilliant shooting, congratulations. -
My HW 77 is zeroed at 27 yds as well. Never really needed to change it.

Have both s410 tdr and an R10 and they are both great.
-
I think that's going to be my next buy!! I had a play with the 95 the other day and just to light for me, but I really want a break barrel. Great rifle!
-
Pumps are far less hassle re refills and honestly, I'm not that fit and it still only takes me a few mins to top up my R-10 or S-10, or indeed, fill from empty to 200 bar in 10 minutes.

A bit 'Action Man' for me to be honest, but I love the fact that FX aren't afraid to try different things
