  1. They're bombing in to the standing Wheat at the moment in flocks of over 100. Going to hit them on Saturday but numbers won't be all that due to foliage on sitty trees blocking shots. Harvest starts on the rape next Monday and I'm intending to be there Wednesday, but this rain might put a stop on the start date, so we'll have to see. I've repainted the white on the decoys, repacked my decoying bag several times, double checked the floater and am almost wetting myself with excitement!
  2. I 'slept' with yours when you weren't looking yesterday, I've not felt a loading port so giving, yet tight in a while.
  3. Hi Mate It's an auto shut off safety feature. I don't own one but am having a slow day at work, so found the handbook on line! http://www.daystate.com/images/reviews/Daystate-Handbook-2011-Web.pdf
  4. I did have those thoughts once, it hurt, so I stopped having them! As I only hunt and rarely further than 45 meters, it hasn't proved an issue worth worrying about. The range finders most of us use are accurate to within a yard and I've literally pressed the button twice from the same distance and had readings of say, 41yds then 42, the whole thing becomes a bit inaccurate.
  5. Met up with Andy_C tonight so that he could have a play on some PCPs and i could get my greasy mitts on hid Stage 2 tuned 97kt. Well, that gun is awesome and I really didn't want to think that! Whilst the smoothness and recoil are on a par with my 30 year old HW 77, the stock fitted far better and in .22 it was simply the dogs dangles! Even more awesome was Andy and I knew each other about 6 or 7 years ago through his girlfriend and my wife (not one and the same)! it wa great to see him again. Started out plinking at his permission and as said already, his 97 was awesome, no reall
  6. I had a HW100 and I get what you're saying. Nothing wrong with it at all, devastatingly accurate, but something just didn't work for me. I have an R10 and an S10 and would certainly have an HW100 again, but not at the expense of loosing my R10. I just prefer it.
  7. I take my hat off to anyone who can pull shots like that. Simpy awesome and proves what can be done with years of knowledge behind you!
  8. I really like the look of the Logun/ Webly Axsor and heard nothing that bad about them. This guy: https://www.youtube.com/user/MrDAVERATZ uses a Solo with great results.
  9. To be honest it sounds like you need to stop worrying. It takes time to bed in new gun and get to know it. If you do get it tuned, then without new reg, Darrin charged me £100 and that made it awesome. Good luck with itand
  10. Some mk1 R10's are better filled to 200 bar rather than 232, if not tuned. Trial and error will let you know if yours is one (mine is). Awesome rifles. If you ever need it it tuned, speak to Darrin at XTX air.
  11. I spoke to them on Tuesday, along with Steve Pope at V-Mach, as I'm wanting to get another tuned springer for my (hurts to say it) 40th. You can have a stage one or two tune done from them* for a deposit of minimum £140.00 over the phone and the rest paid on collection or indeed just a one off payment. Turn around is 4-6 weeks. *Edited to say 'including gun....'
  12. If i HAD to, the PCP's could go and to be honest, I wonder at times if I need more than one or two guns. That said I couldn't/ wouldn't be able to part with the HW77, it's to much a part of me. I'm thinking of selling a PCP to fund another .77 in .22, but just can't bring myself to do it!
  13. Darrin at XTX air could probably help you source one and is a great bloke to deal with - www.xtxair.co.uk
  14. Mine is late 80's and had a venom tune back then. Even today, in bad need of a re-blue, it chronos at 11.3ft lbs average with a .4 ftlb spread across a ten shot string. Not freakin bad!
  15. I didn't think they were that important, then I got one! Shorter ranges (to 35yds) things didn't dramatically change, with .22, although from there on out it did. The pellet drop between 40 and 50 yds is quite significant, just shy of 4" or 10cm for example. If you range wrong then you can miss by a long way, even paced out, I discovered that my 45 paces came in about 5yds shy. It's not essential but if you have one then it takes a lot of the pain out of ranging, you'll just need to find a new excuse if you miss!
  16. I use X 9 and to be honest I've never felt the need for more magnification whilst hunting, although if I were to get in to HFT then I may well see the benefit.
  17. Have a look on the BSAOG, there's a guy who makes the one's that Hunters Vermin made on YouTube out of a wellie and sells them for as little as a fiver. All money goes to charity and they look pretty easy to use, just hanging round your neck.
  18. It was the kindest thing to do, given the circumstances.
  19. Enjoyed reading that, thanks.
  20. Both will do the job but I agree with Lewis.
  21. Hi mate Awesome looking gun and a steal at that price! If it required only 8 pumps and was back to 190 bar on the Pumps pressure gauge, it sounds like you didn't have that many shots. If this is the case, everything's fine!
  22. Love both! Like with .22 and.177, I love having and using both. I was generously given my HW77k tuned in the late 80's by Venom, now VMach and that got me back in to Air guns, a year or so later, I was offered a AA S410 and having followed the exploits of members on here with PCPs, bought it and thought it was amazing! A year later I sent it off for a service and whilst it was away, out came the HW77 and I couldn't believe the feeling of 'soul' in the gun. Bought an S10 as it was a good price and loved it, bought a HW100 and thought it was great but not what I had expected, bought
  23. Superdomes don't come in different head sizes but are awesome in my HW77!! I've been in to several gun shops between Hampshire and Cornwall. 3 told me that the AA Fields only came in 5.5mm. It amazes me that some gun shops seem to treat airgun shooters as second class customers. That's about right ref the gunships telling you that! That's why I boycotted my local gunshop because I ended up having an argument with the owner who was hell bent on telling me that all domed pellets are the same and make no difference to groupings!!!!! Bloody idiot! I think my willingness to not accept that a
