  1. Simon, I feel your pain and have to suffer 'Johnny Do Gooder's' as a weekly occurrence. Only two weeks ago, I was shooting clays at a local ground with a friend, utterly no one else there apart from one guy who you could spot a mile off as 'one of those', you know the sort, Team Berretta waistcoat and cap, orange tinted wrap arounds, chinos and velcro shoes, changing his chokes at every stand. I'm sure you know the sort I mean! He comes running over and starts ranting on about safety and how he cant see how I am safe and how he is concerned about other people and how by having a friend loa
  2. I'm getting another R10 in .22 as to me, they're just awesome! You could have a look at the Carbine version BSA have out now but I think I'll stick with full length. With so many quality tuners our there like XTX, Rancid Tom, Bowkett, A&M etc. if there are ever any problems, there are talented guys to sort them.
  3. Evenings are the best time on my permission, but I have certainly had my share of blanks. Part and parcel of what we do I guess, far more fun than being dragged round John Lewis though!
  4. My HW77 is pretty awesome in 177, my HW97 likewise in 22! Both will do the job very well
  5. My HW77 is pretty awesome in 177, my HW97 likewise in 22! Both will do the job very well
  6. My wife prefers my face in a Face Net, or a plastic bag! Especially if yet again, I'm "dropping what I've bagged off" to the local pub! You guys are all too kind, but it's no big thing for me as I simply no no difference. I guess I'm only now realising how much of a thing it is to others and having confidence enough to say that maybe I can make a small difference in our sport! Might give John Craven a call!
  7. This isn't some shameless self promoting ego exercise (well mostly not!), but for any of you who don't watch Air Heads on the Field Sports Channel, I approached them to come and spend a day with me on the farm. I think what David Wright has done is fantastic and promotes the positivity in what we do in the same light as I see it. If it encourages 1 "Disabled" person who sits and thinks "I can't" in to thinking, "Well maybe..." then spitting pellets in to a Magazine for others to watch was well worth it! In case Spielberg calls, I will do naked as long as it's tasteful and
  8. They're great guns, I kind of regret swapping mine but hey ho! If you join the BSA Owners Group, there's a whole world of useful info from guys who know their stuff.
  9. I'm with you and try and stay to a maximum of 4 or 5! The enjoyment for me is in the hunting!
  10. Bad news and know the feeling but 13 in the bag before hand is good going! I'm lucky to see 4 in an evening at the mo... role on grass cutting!
  11. Probably not, but I always wear it.
  12. I picked up my R10 for £400 including scope, mt S10 for £350 including scope and my S410 tdr (now sold) for £450 with a Simmons WTC scopw thrown in! All great rifles that I mwould buy again.
  13. Boiler room shot will do it! Will drop like a rock in .22.
  14. I thought you could only eat the meat that comes in plastic packaging from the magic meat tree? It offends my delicate sensibilities that something might have died in order that I eat it, especially if it has lived in the countryside where all the mud is.
  15. BSA barrels like tighter fitting pellets, my R10 and S10 both do best with AA Field Diablo in 5.52, as does my HW97.
  16. I have a Lightening XL upstairs. The soring snapped after a couple of hundred pellets and as I had an HW77 as well, I never repaired the horrible thing. As already mentioned, an HW95 is far better and will make the hours of paper punching at various ranges before you start hunting a real pleasure! Don't scrimp on pellets either. Cheap ones are cheap for a reason. Buy a sample pack of good quality pellets from ebay and go from there. Oh, and then you'll want a PCP, range finder, chrono and every other toy going, so you might as well start saving, addiction can be expensive!
  17. As said already, the HW95 is a great gun, but I get better results from more weighty springers such as my 97 and 77.
  18. Can't go wrong with a 97k. Utterly brilliant rifle in terms of both balance and reliability. Hope he enjoys it for many years.
  19. In my experience with both in .22, AA field Diablo in 5.52 is the best in all my rifles.
  20. What they said! Can't go wrong with a Weihrauch. A friend picked up a used HW80 with reasonable scope and pellets from a dealer the other month for £250, Deadly combo!.
  21. Great write up mate! I love decoying pigeons, when it works it's brilliant so good luck next time at it.
  22. my HW77 loves them in .177 and I know others who have had great success with them in .22.
