International Arms dealer gets caught!
silentshot1 replied to markha's topic in General Airgun Discussion
Just read it on associated press web site. The German guy has cut a deal, leaving the MD of York Guns and a guy from Kent to contemplate up to 20 years of porridge and inappropriate contact in US custody. Good luck to them with that! -
Was that the gun shop that had Kelly Brook offering a free full body rub with every purchase? If so I was in there at about 02.30 this morning!

That's one beautiful stock. That HW 77 reminds me a bit of Natalie Portman in Black Swan, stunning anyway but can even pull off the skeleton look! I imagine the stock weighs less than the original, does this have any noticeable knock on effect to recoil?
-
That Stutzen stock is something to behold, a real piece of art.... I would have that scratched to buggery quicker than Katie Price can sell another dreadful story to the Mirror! I think I'd just put it in a glass cabinet and stare at it, I could never take it out for fear of the above talent I have to scratch stuff almost as soon as I touch it! If it's my dream rifle, it would have the 'soul' of an HW springer, the reliability and multi shot capability of an S410, combined with the shot count of the HW100 or Rapid. Reality sadly beckoning, I think that either a lefty S410 carbine

Hi mate, I saw this a while ago, stage by stage refurb of an HW77. http://www.airgunforum.net/articles/hw77.htm Really useful! ... Forgot to say, mine looks like I've used it to demolish a barn in the rain, but shoots like a dream after it's last tune, in 1989 apparently!
-
I'm going to go with the S410's It's more than enough performance wise without being something you'll be scared to use due to price!

Hi and Welcome!

DON'T DO IT!! If I've read one thing on a thread more than anything else, it's the classic 'I regret getting rid of my Weihrauch springer' comment left on so many! Sell a Kidney instead!! I do love these guns though!

Hi mate Had a similar problem with my S410 TDR in the summer. I couldn't figure out what was going on so phoned Air Arms who went through everything with me on the phone. Turns out it wasn't the silencer but internal. Sent it off to them, got it back in a week and it's been brilliant ever since. £90 well spent!

Hi buddy To be honest, you may struggle to attract many pigeons with just the two decoys, but there are ways to inprve the odds. You've already id'ed a site where rooks etc. gather on your permission, near dusk. Why not get there before they come in, crack a couple of eggs, leaving them in their shell and put the magpie close to the eggs, on the bank. You'll have to conceal yourself brilliantly and wait. If all works, the crows will come to the eggs and away you go! If you can see a tree that pigeons like to flock to and hold up in at certain times of day on your permission (Sitty tree

Brilliant mate, good luck with it!

Hat's off to you!! That's brilliant.

What a ball ache for permissions
silentshot1 replied to StevoSmith's topic in General Airgun Discussion
I'm with Marksman on this one. Wish you all the best with the email campaign, but from experience, the delete button is often used before reading, whilst meeting someone in person is more difficult to delete. Gaining permission is like every other sales role. In part it's a numbers game, in part it's identifying and acting on a specific need, but mostly it's about building a speedy rapport through presentation, word and inferred knowledge and offering simple get out clauses to demonstrate trust and competence. -
Hi Si I was talking to my Father in law who as a farmer has been on the front line of vermin control for most of his life. He was saying that apparently the pigeon will hear the sound of the pellet before it hits (like on your video with Tony shooting at odd meters), the Pigeon then automatically flights as this is it's only real protection. The pellet hits a fraction of a second later, but as you you say, the last message from brain to body was 'fcuk this and fly', reflex takes over and off it goes until innate reaction and adrenaline run out and thump, down it goes. The fact that pi

Hi Si I've had similar experiences shooting Pigeons with a .177 and harder pellets. Not often, but it was the principle reason for changing to .22 this time last year, primarily for 'instant punch' on pigeons. With the .177 I was experiencing, to me, an unacceptable level of pigeons able to flap off after being hit squarely in the KZ. I've been told that they are squarely dead, but unaware of it and the shot alone, hasn't caused enough damage, as Simon (Pianoman) explains brilliantly, to cause an instant drop. It's not that we've missed or maimed, but the 'drop' just didn't look clean

Great shooting mate and loving the bit of ingenuity with the sling! I love the look of the 95, might have to take a hammer to my piggy bank!

Congratulations! Which one is the real Dara O'Brian?

Would you pay a Land owner to shoot?
silentshot1 replied to silentshot1's topic in General Airgun Discussion
Wow, OK... I know shooting permission can be hard earned and those of us that persist can endure a lot of time, travel and rejection for their effort, but I don't think that admitting on an open forum that you are so stuck for options that you commit armed trespass, is a good idea at all. As a forum I feel we have a responsibility to present ourselves and our sport in the best light possible. Admitting publicly, that in order to shoot, you have to break the law which carries it's own consequences and also risks turning another land owner to an 'anti airgun' view point; whilst underlin -
Got to agree with botyh Simon (Pianoman) and Polecat84. I really like the HW97 and Pro sport, was playing with both in the local shop at the weekend but neither gave me the utter assurance I get from the HW77K. Quite a personal thing, I know, but I don't think I'll ever part with mine.

As Phantom said, Chambers is a good option. Got my current HW77 stock for around £100 delivered in three days from them.

Weihrauch HW77. Which should I buy?

Hi PM I was given my Venom tuned HW77 .177 about 5 years ago and it's still awesome!! It was made before W. Germany became Germany (1990) and still punches sub 2 pence groups at 40 yards, in the right hands. It's a fantastic long range hunter and the weight only serves to add to your confidence in delivering less wobble when you're aiming. The recoil is smooth and the Reckord trigger is as crisp as it was out the box. Sandwell Field Sports quoted me £60 for a tune on another springer, which to my mind is bloomin' brilliant value! The only thing I can say through personal exp -
Brilliant Davy! I hate rats with a vengeance, an ex used to keep them as pets and they where the main reason as to the demise of our relationship... Oh, and she slept with my best mate, but the rats were the big issue!

I LOVE wide screen scopes, I have the exact same one on my HW77, and it's an awesome bit of kit! Almost indestructable and holds zero like nothing else! The wide screen really adds to fast target aquisition in any light, as you can see more through it! Good luck with the sale, I might even make a bid if I can scratch enough pennies together out of the tumble dryer filter!

Loving your work!! That's one impressive bag.
