  1. Did he come from Sittingbourne?
  2. These posts about bull crosses catching hares easily make me laugh, talk is cheap.
  3. Bionic Biotic, you add to the food is suppossed to be good. You get it from Pets at home. Goodluck!
  4. You would need a freak of a bullcross to catch a winter hare, it takes a Good dog that is bred for Hares to catch them daytime let alone bull crosses. IMO
  5. Thats what gets me, people with no interest in the thread have more to say than anyone. If your not going to reply to the actual thread why keep giving unwanted advice about not doing this or not writing that, just give it a rest.
  6. A mate of my nephew has a good bitch from the Tramp lines 6 and a half yr old and doing well in the Forley and another comp at the moment, 3/3 and 4/4 regularly this time of year.
  7. Its more than likely the sort of people you mentioned that took the dogs anyway!!
  8. Its 2 quid a week, so not the end of the world, what else is there?? Should have a lot more pre ban stuff in it though,I get fed up with rabbits and rats all the time,I liked the issue where it has the old coursing dogs in it,we need more of that type of stuff. IMO
  9. top pics of top dogs, well done!!
  10. Bitches, but you have the downfall of them being off work due to their seasons.
  11. My father-in-law had a 21-22" bitch in the `s that killed 32/33 hares in Jan and feb 1 year. He isnt a betting man did it just for sport, her name was "Shoefly" My nephew just bought a very good daytime bitch that is aprox 22" So its not all about size.
  12. Cracking looking pup in excellent shape and the dam is a beauty too
  13. I have had the Blitz fora little while now and imo the are the best when you have the dimmer on them, they can be used on small and big fields a like. Just need to secure the wiring at the bottom of the handle with some tape to stop it wiggling about (unless you can be bothered to rewire)and then you wont have any probs with them. Blitz all the way!!
  14. whippet or whippet/greyhound for speed, turning and the smooth coat.
  15. I have never owned a collie cross personally, but have seen some run in my time, some good some not. Im not here to argue whether collie is good or not in a lurcher because obviously it is in some dogs, but just not my cup of tea. ATB
  16. Im not offended, you are entitled to your opinion as much as I am to mine. You are contradicting yourself though, "There is no such thing as a working dog that is too clever" But... "There is such a thing as a dog owner that does not have the ability to train a smart dog" A clever/smart dog will think for himself, regardless of what you have trained him, he will adapt to situations that arise during the hunt. So although you have trained him to do 1 thing, his cleverness makes him adapt to do something that he thinks is better suited for that situation which might not be the thing that i
  17. There werent any bull in coursing dogs what I remember, but times and fads change.I think the Original was the best for hare and deer Saluki/grey. Each to their own though.
  18. Good all rounder dogs, good luck with the sale, Cheap puppies should go quickly
  19. There might of been a misunderstanding on my part, Maybe you guys are right about a proper lurcher needs collie, I meant I dont like collie in the type of dog I used.... a longdog, A Hare/deer dog (pre ban) not a rabbiting dog.
  20. A collie can be too clever for its own good sometimes. Its personal choice but I dont like collie in a lurcher.
  21. I have the Blitz VP and dont find any probs with the vp switch, they are notorious for the bad wiring so you try to sort that out straight away before you take it on the field. At the end of the day how much better or simpler do you want/need it???? I know in an ideal world we would have a lamp the size of a pen with a 1000m beam and thought controlled VP, but we dont live there so I am happy, more than happy with what I have at the moment. There is another thread about "The perfect lamp" on here somewhere.
