  1. Just goes to show there are no hard and fast rules.I never ferret in the wind and rain as i've always believed rabbits are reluctant to bolt. There's something magical about returning home in the wind and rain with something for the pot in your bag.
  2. Nobody says "NO" anymore. When was the last time you heard someone talking about "manners" or "courtesy". Maltenby is right...we all hear the same complaints everyday from everyone but our country is run by people who just say words and sit on pannels/focus groups/committees. Having said that...what's the alternative? I've just come back from France and the average bloke over there would agree with everything said on here.Workers in Paris are seriously p****d off at the moment and hate the way the country is run. Friends of mine recently went to Australia with view to emigrating as they a

You've been to Brighton beach recently then!
  4. So nobody else heard it then!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
  5. I heard this at the end of the news at work on radio 4 last night. I can't find the story or the details in any of the press but the story was that the law still states you can be deported to Oz for poaching coney. Does anyone know when, where, who or how the offence was committed? Or did i doze off in my tea break and dream this! ? Cheers, Mooster. Aplogies if this has already been raised on another page but couldn't find it.
  6. I had the very same thought today and have cooked a rabbit caserole from a favourite french recipe with orange, cream and dry sherry.Something inspiring when you sit down to something from the game freezer and dream of better weather! Bon apetit all!
  7. If we're getting picky, there's no such word as "im" as in "im confused" B/fish. Do you mean "i'm confused" Oh god i'm boring myself now!! sorry, better go to work.
  8. Someone else with the DAVE channel on in the background then?!......................so who is Dave anyway??!!!
  9. My philosophy as well.I've recently posted a newly discovered rabbit recipe on the "living off the land" section. Welcome to the site.
  10. Should find all the info on here as there is a lot of experience.
  11. Welcome to the site.No doubt there will be a lot of interest in your leather craft.
  12. nice to get out between the showers.
  13. Welcome to the forum mate
  14. No probs reading it. It reminds me of my days in primary school in the early 70's when we were taught to read I.T.A. Don't know what it stands for but it was letters shaped like the sound and a bit like the above text. Once we had learned it by the age of seven we had to unlearn it and start to learn normal English Was anyone else experimented on in this way or was it just a weird experiment on us westcountry kids who wore wellies and wooly jimpers to school.
  15. Brilliant idea,my son and his mates love coming ferreting with me when they are home from university which really surprised meat first. They loved it though and made me realise how much kids are missing in their "education". If I might be so bold though,a word of warning.....loony laws in this country mean that you have to be very very careful when out with young people. Avoid being on your own with them unless you REALLY trust them and their parents not to blame you if anything goes wrong. A woman my mrs knows runs a scout group and has asked me to demonstrate ferret handling and skinnin
  16. Heve often had buzzards trying to nick my shot pigeon decoys but never seen a kite. Makes you wonder if the kite has used this method to steal bolting rats or rabbits when watching stoats, weasels etc at work??
  17. No problem.Hope you enjoy it....I personally prefer it without the sherry but like all recipes should be tweaked to suit your own preference.
  18. Some of my favouruite rabbit recipes are those with sweet ingredients like apples and prunes. This one I recently discovered in an old French "bistro recipes" book and goes a step further using sugar to coat the rabbit and cream and sherry in the final sauce! It's absolutely lovely if you like rich food. 1.coat your rabbit pieces in castor sugar then brown in 50g of butter until the sugar goes brown (caramelised) in a casserole pot. 2.Take the rabbit out then put 4 tablespoons of orange juice in the pot and mix into the caramel along with a few spoonfulls from 1/2 pint of stock then
  19. Something we all dread happening. Keep your chin up. Mooster.
  20. Let her carry on hunting..there may be rabbits giving her the slip. If you are in a hurry to move on (not a good idea when ferreting) try scraping at the earth just in front of her outside the burrow .Mine always come to investigate.
  21. Going to work in a country run by a "dangerous regime"? Find out what the rules are first and tread very carefully. There's a huge shortage of teachers and medical experts in this country. Next time you need a part of your body sown back together don't forget to check that the surgeon is not one of those awfull people from another country after all he or she may be a m.m.m. muslim as well. Then what will you do?
