  1. Thanks gents, pretty much what i was already thinking...including the overalls and reflective. ........Think i'll draw the line at cones and a hard hat though!! Mooster
  2. Thanks Kurgan, I'll have a good read of that tomorrow and see if i can make some progress.
  3. Just reading a thread by Kurgan talking about making the most of your environment. I'm a great believer in that, after all it's what other predators do - adapting to their environment. Some of the land i ferret on is bordered by dual carriageway and i've noticed a lot of these verges and banks are inhabited by bunnies. I've taken quite a few bunnies in those areas when covered by copse at the roadside but am reluctant to ferret there in view of traffic as some nosey bugger is sure to stop and ask me who gave me permission. What i'm wondering is who do i ask?...is it someone in an office at
  4. Good pics mate, quite satisfying when you actually get it to work isn't it!! Keep it up Mooster.
  5. Well done mate.Looks like the bunnies there could do with some more brambles to hide their holes....can I send you a couple of lorry loads from around here! Cheers.Mooster.
  6. 9 month old hob has learned the neck hold but has not mastered the other end yet!!
  7. I've kept a hob and jill from last Mays litter mate. They are just the sameas yours.don't forget they're still like puppies and love to play underground! Coincidentally i had no luck this week at several holes which were certainly play holes where they leave their droppings outside and check out the insides for the impending breeding season. Stick at it and enjoy your hunting! Mooster.
  8. Here here!! Brilliant picture.
  9. Me too, getting sick of thorny hedges all the time. nice pics.Mooster.
  10. Spent this morning ripping my nets and hands to shreds in brambles so it's a real pleasure just to see photos of such lovely clear warrens. Thanks for sharing the day and pictures. Mooster.
  11. Buy a copy of "sea angler" magazine if you can. There are nearly always features on the latest catches of bass around the country with loads of tips on stuff which is easily overlooked but can make a big difference.eg tides, time of day (or night) as well as baits rigs to use etc. Have to agree though,a speargun is much more suited to those of us with the predator instinct!!
  12. So glad i'm not the only one who does that!
  13. Much the same as above really. By the end of last year i felt like i had tried every recipe and the ferrets got more and more of the catch! Wife and teenagers have never eaten rabbit which seems a common thread for some reason. As a kid we ate quite a bit so it comes naturally i suppose. I agree with Yokel...I absolutely love to find my quarry, catch it, prepare it and eat it. I still find it difficult not to let out a "mmmmm" sound when i'm tucking ino a rabbit that was roaming wild earlier that day.I always think i will be able to sell them or give them away but somehow can always find a
  14. <a href="http://photobucket.com/" target="_blank"><img src="http://i144.photobucket.com/albums/r184/colinpryce/ferrets179.jpg" border="0" alt="Photobucket - Video and Image Hosting"></a> Took this on of my 9mth old jill with her first single handed bolter. (headed "odd couple" 'cos it should have shown her ugly brother in next shot but still getting to grips with camera.)
  15. Drag hunting, targets, what next for goodness sake?.....clockwork bunnies for my ferrets to chase after! I suppose i shouldn't tempt fate by joking about it!! Well done lads. Mooster.
  16. Left school at 16 .worked 11yrs as a mechanic in Austin/Rover garage.Got a bit bored with that.Spent last 16 years in the old bill.Well somebody's gotta do it !
  17. Class!! That little boys face is a picture. It looks like you gave the ferrets a rest and sent him underground judging by the state of his trousers!
  18. Yeah,that's what i was thinking...one red hot gun i reckon
  19. Hob is trying out his new equipment....sister and mother not impressed.(his sister and mother not mine)!
  20. Just goes to show nature doesn't always do what we want it to. Lets face it, the first time we try anything new it rarely goes according to plan but that doesn't stop us enjoying the experience...and trying again!
  21. 45 and couldn't agree more mate, one thing is omitted though.... Don't you remember our parents and oldies telling us how easy our life was compared to their own childhoods! Makes you wonder if we will go full circle one day.I wouldn't be too surprised but probably not in our lifetime! Very interesting, thanks.
  22. I'm planning the same mate and have been quoted £70. As others have said, receptionist need it spelled out to them or else they will just cut off his nuts which i understand will take away his urge leaving the jills in season. There are lots of previous threads on this as you can imagine. The national ferret welfare site gives ferret friendly vet addresses. Cheers Mooster.
  23. So what if the net ain't perfect, you got yer bunniies and fresh air didn't you! Well done. Mooster.
