  1. Enjoy yer trip mate! Hope you don't mind me saying but be careful what you say about the location on here or you may find the place full of pikeys or even anti's when you arrive and that would spoil what looks like a brilliant opportunity.Well done!
  2. Stop trying to tell us you need convincing....You KNOW it's in yer blood so don't fight it and get out there!!! Welcome back to the outdoors mate. :welcomeani: Mooster
  3. I say this whole debate revolves around the word "grass" which you used at the start Charlotte. It's an imotive word same as snitch or informant- telling tales. All well and good slagging such people off until it's your kid being bullied at school then nobody will say who'se responsible through fear of being a grass. That can't be right. Old people beaten in care homes,a kid knocked over hit and run, etc etc.God help us if our society adopts the warped idea that its not worth saying anything cos it's already happened!!! You did right...you stood up for something which had no voice
  4. Stange coincidence,an old mate came into where i work today saying goodbye as he's off to oz with his wife and kids in May. Recently saw a telly programme about emigrating to New zealand which is also a long way away! The overriding message seemed to be this, make sure you do your homework because moving to the other side of the world is expensive but moving all your stuff back is ten times more expensive. Someone once told me to wait 12 mths for a life changing idea to go away.If it doesn't....You go for it mate and good luck to you and yours! Mooster.
  5. That was good luck mate.Is a "YUTE" what we call a tractor or a pick-up or what???
  6. Not on a trip but a young jill took up residence in my back yard a couple of years ago.Brilliant bunny bolter and have had 2 litters from her. She's a placid pet and fierce hunter and i never found where she had come from despite numerous posters and enquiries.
  7. Nice pics again Frank. Mooster.
  8. Never lost one yet but it's always a thought in the back of my mind as soon as they dissapear underground. As i always say, this is not ane exact sport is it? we're up against mother nature who can spring all sorts of surprises and catch out the semi-domesticated hunter sucha as we are
  9. Welcome aboard mate.Good luck with your search for some new ferrets.Try your local animal rescue centre for an abandoned pair?
  10. Well i'm impressed then.I say build 'em and sell 'em??
  11. What's with the image of a kid being scared of his parent beating him??? Get in the real world for f sake.........Lots of kids actually do that every single night before they get their beating so why joke about it on this website ...or at all. Not clever and not funny.

    Hunting forums

Why are ther so many hunting forums? Why are there so many people to talk to? Just enjoy the variety i say.
  13. Jigsaw, can happen to anyone. We wiped my neice's wedding video when my son and his mate messed around with the video camera! "These things happen" and always will.
  14. No two trips are the same are they? Mooster.
  15. Where did you buy them mate?!!! Sorry, but not convinced!!!!!!!!! "Stage by stage" with some tools and sawdust may have been more realistic. Why?!!

    Teenagers

Yep, wise words Aled. One thing i've been thinking though lads. Cast you minds back to age 16-18.-I had just started a mechanics apprenticeship. The old blokes in the garage took great delight in telling me how they could make an engine from a lump of metal by hand and how they could tune any engine by listening to it and adjusting the ignition by hand. They would moan at my lack of skills and tell mehow easy it was for my generation of apprentices to just replace faulty engine parts" from the shelf "rather than diagnosing the fault befor skillfully repairing them. Then i would get home and

    Teenagers

Your lad is at an advantage already Shaman.........his old man cares about him! Mine is 19 and i seem to have been on a roller coaster of worry since day 1!! I thought i lost touch with my lad when he went away to university but last year him and his mates came out ferreting with me and genuinely enjoyed themselves.I couldn't believe my eyes. I rekon if your kids know you care about them you can usually find a way to stay in touch with them...eventually!!! Good luck to you both.
  18. I'm convinced! Many thanks for sharing your experiences. I'm arranging to collect this one at the weekend. Who knows, i might be back to post some pictures of my new companion alongside a bunny or two. (No time limits though)!! Thanks again. Mooster.
  19. Move down here to the westcountry...haven't seen snow or ice for years!!
  20. Thanks mate, coincidentally this one is up for quid.No marks on the woodwork, nice clean barrel and simons scope. All i need now is to learn to shoot with one big pellet instead of lots of little ones! I think i'm in for one of those "steep learning curves" my boss keeps telling me about!! Cheers.Mooster.
  21. I'm a ferret and twelve bore man but am interested in taking a few bunnies and woodies with an air rifle as i have some new permission on land where a twelve bore could disturb residents living nearby. I've been offered a Weihrauch hw80k .22 spring gun which is in very good condition although ten times heavier than my 12 bore! Can anyone recommend this gun for rabbits as i can't find much about it on search of this site. (hope thats not just down to my crap computer skills)!! Many thanks in anticipation. Mooster.
  22. Yes, i agree.I see from your profile you're from a shooting background- Have you done much shooting bolting bunnies over ferrets?its good sport.( you need to be well disciplined and big on safety though) but if you're keeping them as pets they will love a chance to go underground now and then.
  23. I think this will raise the common issue of "seasons"mate. It seems generally agreed that jills need to be brought out of season for health reasons and that hobbs get very randy and prone to fighting when the spring comes and the old sap rises! Have you tried an animal rescue centre? They nearly always have their ferrets spayed/neutered and often take in ferrets from the same litter which will reduce the chances of 2 hobs fighting as well. I'm happy to be corrected though, as i've only kept ferrets for 2-3 years. They get most of their strays in summer/autumn i think. Good luck.Mooster.
  24. What's the point ib trying to think of a funny caption after that !!!!!!!!!
  25. Yep, me too had one slip through the net this morning which looked like he hadn't been above ground before!
