  1. In 3 years of ferreting have only dug once, and before I got to where my jill was scrapping she emerged at a hole next to my ear to see what all the fuss was about!
  2. Thanks all. Actually i was going to put a section of mesh across the communual area today so that they can see eachother more easily, rather than just through the end of a connecting tube which i put mesh over. We will see!
  3. Ferretlove,I am doing this at the moment.Mother has a real serious problem!! Trying them for 10 mins a day and they have had their beds swapped avery other day. Doddsy, these two were inseperable before the youngster was spayed as well. Amazing how the mother is reacting after such a short time and she is not in season so would have thought she would be at her calmest. Still, patience is a vertue and i'm learning something new about my ferrets.

    goodbye

    Aoll the best
  5. Too late for me..............been farting in private for 20 years now and I think she knows anyway!!
  6. True...all land belongs to someone. With regards to getting new permission. As I have said before First impressions count....How do you feel when someone knocks on your door asking for a favour!!! If you are dressed like a hoodie mugger with "love and hate" tattood on your knuckles don't be surprised if the farmer doesn't want you snooping around his home in the dark!!! Would you?
  7. OTC ,are you saying they still supply MK 1 collars??
  8. Sorry to hear this. An experienced ferret rescuer near me once told me that he has noticed mothers and sisters often kill their young when there is high aptmospheric pressure/thunderstorms. Like someone has said ..nature is cruel and ferret keepers are at the thin end of the wedge. I'm learning thet there are no easy answers in ferret keeping. All the best to those who have lost kits. Mooster.(learning the hard way).
  9. Tried a short intro tonight sharing food on neutral ground. Fine at first then mother finished eating and then started eratically preening daughter appearing to clean her fur and ears very enthusiastically.I thought i'd cracked it... Then without warning she started throwing her around (even though youngster is twice her size) and chasing her everywhere trying to pin her down. Having said that no blood drawn so i'm inclined to think this is territorial/maternal/hormonal rather than a real threat,as youngster cried out rather than fighting back with any enthusiasm. Sorry if I sound a bit so
  10. Well the youngster is having her stitches out tomorrow so will try them again after that, got a feeling it's my blood that will be shed trying to seperate them!
  11. Has anyone else experienced this? Had my one year old jill spayed a couple of weeks ago.Took her home afterwards and her mother kept interfering with her stitches so i've seperated them for a week on the vets advice. Tried them together this evening and they tried to kill eachother!!!!!! Naturally,I'll try them gradually over meal time but must say gave me a bit of a surprise and took a bit of seperating! There's never a dull moment with these girls is there?!!! Fiesty or what!!
  12. Just made the first of my own nets and getting sorted generally..........I use a mk 1 still and have one dodgy collar. I can't believe that there is nobody who knows a bit about electronics and can make a cheap and cheerfull transmitter of some sort??! There is a market there for someone with a bit of knowlegde in that area .......most of us are more interested in a locator as an emergency measure rather than a high tech all singing, all dancing pocket computer. Any takers and I'll be more than willing to buy them rather than lining the pockets of big companies like Deben. Mooster
  13. Thanks for that.By mid winter i'm usually ready for some fresh ideas. A day ferreting, home and prepare my bunnies, share some bits with the ferrets, cook this recipe, sit out the back yard with a pint of rough cider and my ferrets trying to steal from my plate! Family looking out from inside shaking their heads....I'm in heaven at the end of a perfect day! Thanks again.
  14. Excellent and rather refreshing to realise I'm not alone in feeling the need to kill everytime i see them in the park throwing cans of xxxx and fosters lager around. Why have they all started walking around with their hands down their pants!.........PLEASE somebody stop them from breeding. We are overrun with them down here!.......Lets stop moaning about mixy until we have seen if it can help!!
  15. Bootifull!!! What's that they're eating ...looks nice!
  16. Report this to the old bill and contact the local paper. They love stories like this especially with a picture of your little one and it can really help to get people to grass up the chavs. Very best of luck.Mooster
  17. Most butchers around here are keen to take them but I don't sell them. Ferrets and family eat them all i'm afraid.
  18. When you say "cylinder head re build" what do you mean?....how much was adjusted/replaced? Why was it rebuilt? If it was because of a blown gasket and resulted overheating he may have had to skim the head to get ris of any warping caused by the overheating. This is unusual but if carried out would need adjustment to the valve settings to stop them hitting the pistons. To be honest it sounds a bit of a bodged job . Having said that, depending on the age and performance of the car it should run ok. If it's new, high performance or diesel it may well deteriorate as the head gasket/valve set
  19. Welcome.. .....keep on moochin' !!
  20. Welcome back......how was it inside then?!!!!
  21. Thanks for replies.......What the hell is THAT monster!! Looks from the photo like Gus has got a purple tongue like the Chinese Chow dog. Clumbers and westies and dalmatians...............no takers for the poodle yet then, come on somebody must be working one, perhaps I should ask on the wildfowling site and see if anyone will confess!
  22. Nice picture.......it's that classic moment when your ferret is either going to wait to be untangled or pull free and race back down for some more fun!
  23. Be careful about mates who will take some of them off your hands..........in my experience they don't always get permission off their nearest and dearest first and have to give you a lame excuse leaving you with unwanted wrigglers! Good luck!
