I was very much into staffords and Pit bulls before....but These Irish Breeds and The Kerry BLue was a surprise for me....how can a puff ball...perform the way they do...HAHA I have a likeing for them. THESE IRISH PUFF BALLS

But I have To say it Clear....The Sporting Irish are into American Pit Bulls now....They have sorted out the Chaff....and ther native breeds fell.

Dogs depend on the people that breed them and make them ready. Of the Irish breeds of terrier I prefer The Torum Tunde kerry Blue Terrier line or a working wheaten, they must be like Kerry Blues from what I here say or better....I would not go for show line Soft Coated Wheatens....to off as a Terrier for me.

I think the most qualified opinions here know what a working strong dog looks like or feel like going over them under the coat feeling whats there, and how they should behave. If they have a likening for any of the Irish Terrier breeds go and look at the parents and get a pup...none of them are suitable breeds for everybody, you have to like terriers, you personality has to go with them, I can tell you of a litter of Kerry, that 3 of the pups were bought as pets one put down, the other was given away to a boar hunter and the other ended up given away to an active old pensioner that loved the

The Irish Kennel club was responsible for creating the Irish Badger tests of gameness, and they were Kerry Blue Terrier people, Many thought dog fighting was the maximum test of gameness, but that was ilegal by then.

As you can see Black and tan pup and Wheaten colored pups in pure Kerry blue Terrier litter. The Black and Tan Terrier is said to be a common ancestor to the Irish Terrier who in the beginning came in wheaten and blue also Black and tan, until only red was permitted.

To settle the origin and History of the Kerry Blue, its a variant of the Irish Terrier and would be campaigned by Gerard Pierce as a Fighting dog and general purpose farm dog, he was a breeder and breed club treasurer of the Irish blue Terrier club, for 10 years, many of today's dogs can be traced back to his tested dogs. when England started showing Kerry Blues and trimming begun he rejected it stating they should be shown in the rough. So when In Ireland it was accepted to trim Kerrys in the English fashion he used his wheaten colored Kerrys, because they were not breeding true for color yet

I like the look of the Latharna Working Wheatens,,,,,,I think The show Kerry is a superior dog to the show wheaten, better breeders maybe. All them Irish Terrier breeds are no match as fighters to the king of the ring APBT....I did laugh one morning trying to stop a fight apbt vs Kerry were the Kerry got a hold of the pits back leg and started shaking it out...but that's all it was funny,,,the kerry would not last long left to there own,..that's my bet anyway...you never know in sport, sometimes underdogs are lucky.
