It's true about the lead shotgun pellets. I've been shot by a 12 gauge #6 lead winchester from about 4m away. Some one else shot me while inside a hunt camp by accident. We were moose hunting and had very high powered rifles, so I was lucky, I guess, that I only got a shotgun blast in the foot. Took about 2 hours to get to the hospital because we were so far in the bush. Anyway, that was 14 years ago. I've had over 50 pellets originally and now about 20. The pellets do work their way to the surface of the skin and can be cut out. The only thing the vet will do is prescribe antibiotics

cheers higgins I've had several. I'll send ya the bill. here's the little fella on Sunday here he is coming out of the foxhole. I had to nudge him in and then he went about 2 meters in. this rock is a huge glacial deposit. About 40,000kg. There are a few different holes going under on a couple sides of it. Right on Hastings!! Awesome story about your baby boy killing those mice. And the bitch have a rat for desert.

i was doing some reading on my lunch hour. Pretty funn replys boys. I had my daughters with me at the time. They're 9 and 5 yrs old. I would have never heard the end of it if I ran him over. cheers eh

we were driving out in the bush and found this staggering fox trotting right down the middle of the road. As we got closer you could smell that he had just been sprayed by a skunk. He couldn't really see where he was going. I thought of letting our dog after it. He's only 14 weeks. Didn't let him after it though, pretty stinky  right on, cheers

he is coming along now isn't he poacher. looks very good good luck with him eh how's his training going? cheers

i guess i'm responding for the "dog walkers" sort of. I don't walk other people's dogs or anything. Here there is no fox or rat control problem. we're completely encircled by forest so going out for a walk or hike or bike or drive or boat or canoe really is the only way to get out. I guess we're just oportunistic about it eh? like I said no animal control problem we just do it for s**ts and giggles. good luck to the owners out there working their terriers whether necessary or not. cheers

hey celt, ya, I don't "discourage" any of his pep for snakes. He's still only 12 wks, so he wants after everything that moves. He's learned some rules and limits so far. We have 3 cats and 2 other dogs up until last week. Had to have our 10 yr old lab be euthanized. So anyways he has to behave when at home. And when we're out in the bush a few times a day and our house backs onto bush for hundreds of thousands of square kilometers of forest, I don't discourage him from acting nutty when he sees something he wants to attack. the little s**t. cheers, none the less Celt

hey hastings, he is growing very fast. he was at the vet for his 2nd shots and weighed 3kg (that's about 6.5 lbs for the yanks) he is 12 weeks today. went out in the argo again. discovered new trails, pretty cool my 9 yr old daughter caught a garter snake and I really wanted the little fella to rag on it and play with it but my two daughters wouldn't have it ( the other daughter is 6 ) they wanted to let it go unharmed cheers mad al

nice bitch all right

hey al, uh no haven't used an outboard on it. I have a 14ft aluminum boat and a evinrude 9.9hp that I can tow behind it or put the boat on the roof rack. It's a little bit trickier to go about floating and fishing from than they show in the commercials and ads. It is great though, fits like 6 people and is 8 wheel drive and it does float.

m.r1 comes out, guns a blazing most of us agree with you I believe cheers

ferret saves working bitch
bolohan replied to deerhound working's topic in Earthdogs & Working Terriers
wow, good read. well done!! dog and ferret. never used a ferret before. only ever been around one once and he was a mean b*****d. bit eveyone who held him. I know lots of people have tame ones and good ones and all that. the dog was LUCKY. leaving and coming back and sending in the ferret. wow. lucky make sure your dogs have their collars on boys -
nice pup. really like that colour. my patterdale is about the same age. good luck with her

kids and terriers are partners in mischief good times. kids love their energy, patts love kids enthusiasm without dominance by the owner. they look after and take care of kids in the field or so they think. it's funny, the 9 year old thinks she is taking care of him ( the patterdale )and he thinks he's looking after her i hope you found your little patt swanhunter. get them young and get the kids into everything the pup does. good solid socialization out in the van, out in the truck, out in the boat and out in the argo (atv) getting him used to everything we do as a

doing some rainy day reading and had to say I really love the older pics cheers pickaxe

I too enjoy reading Mr1's posts. sometimes full of info, sometimes full of insults, sometimes full of s**t. i can tell he DOES know about WORKING terriers. that's why I like reading his posts. and I do laugh at the feathers he ruffles. don't know that line of blood (chapman russells) but enjoy dogs and hunting, P***Y too!

yeah, the fox is all gone. don't know if it was the bears took the carcasse or something else. well, getting the little pup used to the boat while he's young. out with the wife and girls and our old lab and little patterdale. caught a pike. lost 3 others, one right at the boat. caught a little smallmouth bass too (chucked it back) cheers boys
-
some patts look like mini staffie bulls. some have their blood too. if they work, they stay
-
all good replys boys thanks for the info, keep it coming

found a fox out on the side of the highway fresh killed. planted it out in the back field behind the house and let the patterdale pup "discover" it. he's 10 wks now and full of s**t. he started barking and growling and grabbing on the fox ears. I was really encouraging him too, want him to get at some live ones in a year or so. we know where there are some nice fox holes and groundhog holes near us. within 1-2 kms. so I'm on the lookout for a groundhog or other little mammals to get him into. how soon do you boys get your pups onto prey? even dead prey? cool, can't
