  1. Has the piece of land been passed by your FEO for FAC ? If it's been passed by the FEO then you shouldn't have any issues, just goes without saying that you need to be 100% certain it's safe before you release the shot, but I'm sure you would be doing that anyway A couple of my permissions have footpaths/rights of way and one of them is cleared for full bore so depends on what the cops have agreed. Cheers PMC
  2. I've got a Sako Finnfire P94S, Sak mod and Nikon Pro-Staff 3-9x50 scope. I love it to bits and I can't see me ever trading/selling it.
  3. If they have Holland & Holland or Purdey engraved on them, and they are under a grand then grab them! Seriously though it is probably best just to take along a shooting buddy that knows what to look for, failing that the advice given seems sound to me. PMC
  4. Got a Nikon Prostaff 3-9x50 on my Sako P94S and love it. The light gathering is fantastic at dusk/dawn. Not the cheapest, but not bank breaking money either. I'd recommend it all day long PMC
  5. Well done mate. Another one down, only a few hundred thousand left P
  6. As stated before, I'd be looking at contacting the local licensing department. I'm sure they'll be able to answer your question prior to you spending any money or time on an application and cabinet etc. Good luck P
  7. Good effort bud, small amount of disturbance and inconvenience but worth it for the peace of mind. Good luck with the visit. P
  8. I think that they are less bothered as long as the garage is integral/joined to the house. If it was a garage remote from the house, even by a few yards they really don't like it. If you've sought advice from the licensing department you'll be alright. P
  9. Good nights work and a good little write up. Enjoyed reading that cheers P
  10. Probably said yes to the .17hmr due to the ammunition being frangible and therefore greatly reducing the ricochet hazard. Nice flat shooting round but disintegrates as soon as it hits a twig on it's journey down range. Can be expensive to feed as well. FAC air sounds like a good bet, especially if the terrain is hilly, providing good back stops.
  11. I had a mate no, really it was a mate! , who was using the roof of my car to lean on whilst checking zero on his PCP .22, he obviously wasn't aware of the line of sight issue between muzzle and scope. Saw him squeeze off the action and then duck as the pellet smashed into the roof rail opposite . He felt like a right numpty , made me laugh and only light cosmetic damage.
  12. I'd try and find out what the history is on the Sako, and have a good look down the barrel to have a quick look at the rifling/barrel condition. But providing it hasn't had tens of thousands of rounds through it and it looks good I'd be going Sako. CZ is a good, reliable rifle but coldweld's analogy is a good one. Just my experience but the Sakos I have shot with have all just felt "nicer" than the CZ. Bolt pull and trigger's where I've found most difference. If you can conjure up another £100 (easier said than done ) you can get your hands on a brand new Sako Quad for around the £575 mar
  13. Awesome, strangely beautiful in a destructive way! Thanks for posting.
  14. I used to use Gore-Tex jackets but since I bought a RAB jacket with the e-Vent fabric I won't go back. e-Vent is so easy to look after, just put it in the wash with a normal mild detergent, hang dry it, followed by an ironing with a hot steam iron, it won't melt. Completely re-proofs it and unlike Gore-Tex, it actually benefits from frequent washing. PMC
  15. As far as I understand it you are correct, but I believe the operative phrase of the section is the part that I quoted you on. Not only that, this is legislation for Eng & Wales and not for the location of this alleged "offence". Like stated before, it seems strange that they would have confiscated the firearm unless it was "made ready" or they were caught in the act of poking it out of the window, so to speak. Hope your mate gets a swift and satisfying conclusion Irish Lurcher. PMC
  16. Even less left now as I've just paid for mine!
