  1. I APPLIED FOR .22 CENTREFIRE ON MY APPLICATION FOR VARIATION. THE FAO CAME OUT AND VETTED THE LAND AND PASSED IT OFF FOR 243. NOT REALLY BOTHERED ABOUT 243 AND SO NOW HAVE THE OPTION OF ANY .22CF.
  2. HI ALL. IVE JUST RECEIVED MY TICKET FOR A .22 CENTREFIRE RIFLE AND FIND MYSELF TORN BETWEEN 223 AND 22 250. GIVEN ALL THE USUAL PRO'S AND CONS ASSOCIATED WITH THESE CALIBRES I THINK IT;S ALL GOING TO COME DOWN TO THE QUIETEST CALIBRE. MOST OF MY LAND IS ADJACENT TO VILLAGES AND DURING THE DAY THIS SHOULDNT BE A PROBLEM. AT NIGHT THOUGH I THINK IT MIGHT BE. IS THE 22 250 SIGNIFICANTLY LOUDER THAN THE 223 EVEN WITH A TOP OF THE RANGE MODDY? IF THE GENERAL CONCENSUS IS THAT THERE'S LITTLE BETWEEN THEM THEN I'VE GOT MY EYE ON A REMINGTON 700 VLS 1N 22 250. CHEERS.
  3. Thanks everyone for all your comments. Not sure if i can be bothered to reload though. With this in mind i may opt for 223 or even 22 250 and put up with the noise. I suppose the 22 250 is a bit overkill for vermin!
  4. Hi all. With ref to either of the above, what sort of range is this calibre good for to assure a good clean fox kill with factory 40 grain ammo? Im torn between a 204 or a 223. My preferance is with a 204 given that it will mostly be used for crows and rabbits etc at long distance (200m +) and the occasional fox. I gather from watching this forum that with the right mody it is significantly quieter than a 223. The only stumbling block being finding the right ammo. Is this round easy enough to reload? Can the factory loads be matched? Ammo availabillity doesnt seem to be a problem. I
  5. Hi all. with ref to the above does anyone know of any dealers in the east midlands area with either of these rifles "off the shelf". Ive rang around a few but all are quoting feb/march 2010 dates. 204's cant be that bad surely? Probably end up going for a 223 although i suspect the wait may be just as long! If i do go for a 223 what is the best fps i could expect from a homeload with a 40 or 45 grain?
