  1. Very nice rapid mate, out of interest is that on ticket or sub 12 mate?
  2. Phils next step from his rimmy, as I keep reminding him, will be either a .222 .223 .22-250, or perhaps just perhaps, the awesome little 350 yard crow exploder, the venerable .17 Rem
  3. Darren am I mistaken or are you in south Yorks? If so you are welcome to come over and try my BSA Ultra, short, light, and lazer deadly accurate mate.
  4. In a word no, I have recovered quite a few hunter extreme pellets from dead quarry, none of which had expanded in any way worth noting, although I have to say the HE do produce very clean kills, I think in an fac rifle they may expand further, but at the end of the day shotgun pellets, large and small dont expand, but do the job very nicely, as long as a vital area is struck, and enough energy imparted a clean kill will almost always result.
  5. Good advice on the chrono, the Vortek kits and seals are the mutts nuts, but do keep a close eye on ftlb matey, if you want any advice you are welcome to pm me mate, I have got my own formula/method of re lubing springers, and as one or two gentelmen on here will attest to, it works rather well
  6. Ah that does clarify things slightly, we all make mistakes, but 120 yards on a windy night with a little hmr is pushing things in my opinion, but whatever whats done is done.
  7. As many know, I really dont like the hmr, however my personal preferences aside, every fox I have seen shot with an hmr dropped on the spot, six fuc*in rounds to finish a fox, not that I would of course....... but I reckon I could finish a red stag with less at a sensible range, what a to**er.
  8. Just be aware also, that if you go down the route of turning your current rifle up, it will always be an fac rifle, even if it is turned back down to sub 12, it will still need an fac to posses it, it will also be worth barely half of its current value, that is why fac rated rifles are generally worth much less than their sub 12 counterparts, I would get a fac rifle and keep your current one standard, however although it is unlikely you will be granted an open ticket first off, as you add land and gain experience you can ask for the restrictive condition to be lifted, enabling you to use the f
  9. As said "phew" a close shave for the ferret there mate, well done for diving in sharpish
  10. For me there is just that certain something about a sbs that is lacking in even the prettiest top end u/o , I can shoot very well with my mates Beretta and have borrowed it on a number of occasions when I was between game guns and only had my Benelli semi, but I dont like it, I have owned a few u/o over the years and shot well with most, but I dont like them, so for me as a game gun its my Spanish Ebor sidelock for me.
  11. I actually had the one from Rez, when I got it, 10.3 ftlbs was all it could muster, after a fettle, 11.7 super quick lock time, and hardly any increase in recoil, ask Pianoman how he likes his .22 after I did it for him, hehehe.
  12. Oh the lock time can be speeded up quite a bit on a prosport, without the need for any silly short strokingOh yes.
  13. Back to the HMR, I hate them But as a long (ish) range rabbit or occasional short range fox rifle, they are an effective (if noisy ) tool, I have never noticed any great spoiling of meat on rabbits with an HMR I just far prefer the .22wmr in semi auto form, (which I also accept is noisy) but using the 30 grain vmax bullets, very impressive on Charly out to 100 yards or so.
  14. Ok 1 Walther lgv .177 2 Hw80 fac .22 3 BSF B55 Bavaria .22 or .177 1 Rapid 17 mk 1 .177 2 BSA Ultra SE .177 Cometa Lynx .177/.25 Obviously with only three choices each its a tough one and there were many that could have figured highly, but I think that about covers it, I have to say having owned my Ultra SE .177 for a couple of months now, I am astounded by how bloody deadly accurate it is, i wish I had
  15. Not the best time of year to be buying a hawk, in the middle of the season mate, you would be better getting everything ready, Mews, telemetry, equipment etc and buying a parent reared bird from a reputable breeder.
  16. Ok lads I have not seen this rifle in the flesh, however the photo looks very nice, .22 127 sport, with what appears to be a very nicely grained custom stock and a Rhino 3-9x40 scope, in a west yorkshire gunshop not a million miles from me, and its £200 looks a bargain, if ya want to know any more pm me, had it been .177 I would have been over tomorrow and bought it, but its .22 so no thanks.
  17. I understand your attention to safety, but carrying a pcp air rifle loaded with the safety catch on is not an issue, providing the rifle is always pointed in a safe direction, after all, I carry my stalking rifle loaded when stalking, as carrying it without a round in the chamber, only loading when a deer is spotted would result in the deer hearing the mechanism and high tailing it, almost every time, again providing the rifle is pointed safely, and unloaded,or in the case of an air rifle fired into the ground when crossing an obstruction, you should be safe at all times.
  18. Do not short stroke it, ask Philpot, or Pianoman how their tx 200s turned out after I did them for themI will talk you through it if you like mate.
  19. I think they have watched too many Yank hunting adverts, very similar except the Yanks will be advertising Wheatherby magnums etc, not fu*kin air rifles lol.
  20. Cant really add much other than to say excellent rifles with superb engineering, and very easy to work on too.
  21. Good night cammo, and as Rez says........ a touch on the dark side
  22. That would be the best approach Mark indeed, and then bin the crap seal and fit a Vortek, along with the rest of the kit.
