Any Hw99 Fans?
charlie caller replied to tomburras's topic in Rifle Reviews, Technical Help and Tips
Ye I have tuned a couple, I like them but find them hold sensitive, in my preferred .177 calibre it is a real struggle to get the power above about 10ftlbs which may suit some but I like my rifles around the 11.5 ftlbs mark, so its the .22 that really shines in this model, they really do need stripping out of the box, the last one I did was brand new, the horrible grease and turnings that came out of it, and embedded in the piston seal, was quite shocking, for a brand new rifle, but once done and a Vortek seal added, it was sweet to shoot and accurate, if a little pellet fussy. -
Bretta S686E 12G , 30Inch Multi Choke

Sounds about right mate if its a minter, and yes they are very good guns indeed, but it needs to fit you remember, so if it needs any altering, a bit of gentle negotiation would be in order mate. -
If you can get an open ticket holder whom you shoot with to vouch for you and say he/she thinks you competent, safe, etc it will strengthen your case enormously.

It really is Mark, it absolutely loves Baraccuda hunter extreme 9.57 grain, yes I fill it to 180 bar and get I would say 30 bang on shots, really pleased with it mate.

I just got a Brocock concept s6 in .177 very pleased with it, lightweight, awesomely accurate, very quiet, reasonable shot count, so I would lean towards the Brocock, just need to decide if I should fit a regulator now

Yes its a poxy airgun, but imagine a call to the local station, "I have just seen a man in ........ woods with a black machine gun" hassle hassle hassle, and it looks stupid (in my opinion) why the hell does a fellow want a thing that looks like a machine gun, that spits a pellet out at 550 fps ?

Good advice, Vortek kits with spring included are very very good, google vortek spring kits, there is a guy in Lincolnshire does them, you wont regret it mate.

I dont wish to cause offence either mate, but I think the thing looks ridiculous, its like the man with his ar15 clone .22rf, I just dont see the point, and I would imagine a member of the public seeing a man walking round a field with one of them, could quite easily result in the police helicopter hovering overhead, and an mp5 etc being pointed at you.

The only advantage I can see from fac air to .22 rf is shooting in trees, where a .22 rf would be positively dangerous, from a cost point of view a very decent .22rf can be had on the second hand market for around £150-£200 I would imagine a decent fac pcp would probably cost 3 times that figure, it can never be used without a licence again even if turned back down to 12ftlbs, gunshops seem to charge a premium price for fac air, but come to sell one and they offer next to nothing on the basis that they are hard to sell, if it is a safe shot with a good backstop for an fac air rifle it is a saf

Hw99S .22 Pellet Testing
charlie caller replied to jonnie bravo's topic in Rifle Reviews, Technical Help and Tips
The last .22 I tuned grouped superbly with Crosman accupel ft but was crap with ftt. -
Yeah I've got two good perms that are passed and I get on well with the land owners too I'm looking at getting an .22 fx impact in the next couple of weeks... Hopefully ! You can run them up to about 80flb and buy changeable barrels, they do a .25..... Could be fun! When I'm back I'll get into the local fac officer, there's a couple of sketchy things from years back but all being well won't affect the application If all goes well I'll be giving you a nod in the future! Cheers Charlie Atb si Anytime pal

If you have land passed for .22 rimfire or above, I would avoid the fac air, unless you really want one, and go straight for a .22 its not really a suitable rifle for shooting foxes regularly, but will kill them humanely with a headshot at 50 yards or so, once as you say you have a foot in the door, you can apply for a proper fox tool, a hornet either .17 or .22 or .222 .223 .22-250 etc.

I had one of the latest Yukon photon on my air rifle and on the .22 rimfire, it was very good for the money, I used it mainly for shooting rats from a stationary point (area baited) it was superb on the air rifle for that, but searching round a field looking for rabbits, is a pain in the arse, that is why so many carry a hand held spotter as well, to be honest,I could not bring myself to spend additional funds on a spotter, so have gone back to the lamp, I would have another perhaps a Ward D700 that can be switched from scope to scope,so I could shoot foxes using it on the .243, but I think fo

Young Man And His Ferrets.
charlie caller replied to mark williams's topic in General Airgun Discussion
Very good of you Mark, but might I suggest you introduce the concept of him feeding a complete ferret food I.E ferret complete or similar brand, the benefits during the summer months are multiple, the cage smells far less, due to the droppings having a much lower odour, and flies are far less attracted to the cage, than having a semi eaten cadaver, in the nesting box, and the ferrets will receive a proper high fat diet, sometimes lacking with certain carcass feeding. -

charlie caller replied to slipper's topic in Reloading and Gun Maintenance
Well I would not worry mate, I have a keeper mate with a .2o something year old .22-250 that has shot thousands of foxes, its battered, but still groups 1/2" at 100 yards, you wont burn the barrel out shooting foxes dude, hope it works for you pal. -
Cheers, ye this is the full length one with the ambi stock (Im a left hooker) so should be a decent shot count too.

Just wondering if anyone got/had one and what are your thoughts, just been offered a mint s6 concept in .177 for the right money, it looks a nice bit of kit, and I know the guy selling personally and he says its uber accurate, all the reveiws I have looked at seem to suggest that is the case, any bad points lads?
