  1. YES weatherby do a .240 magnum cartridge, but the reason for the minimum .240 rule is that when introduced, people were stalking with h&h .240 you still see them for sale now and then and I think they still build them, you can certainly still get the ammo, but as few people can afford a h&h rifle .243 has become the min calibre by default, and what a spiffing job it does CHARLIE CALLER.
  2. Yes he could just be talking shite, but a word with the landowner would be a good first step, get him on side, and that will only strengthen your case should you need to take it further, maybe a word from him on the grounds of if I hear any more reports of this nature andyou are off,I am keeping my eye on you ect might just do the trick, but then of course he will know whose told landowner, difficult one mate,by the way just to be pedantic .243 is not the minimum calibre for large deer in england and wales its actually .240 not that many people have one though I think its a holland and holland c
  3. Well ive done a few good ones over the last 30 odd years ive been shooting including,my first ever rabbit with a crosman pump up .22 pistol @ 25 yards when I was 13 that was 30 years ago an remember it like it was yesterday,I think the very best/fluke I ever whitnessed, was in the 80s a mate of mine bought a crap asi rangemaster from our local gunshop,we were all taking the p-ss out of him cos we all had decent rifles like hw80s ect anyway walking back over the fields a flock of feral pigeons got up at about 120yds, anyway pop goes the mighty rangemaster, you can imagine the look on our faces w
  4. HI everyone, advice would be gladly received, not had my fhh long, she is going really well shes a wicked hunter, however Iwant to lamp with her,so how do Igo about training her for it,im assuming I would do some recall training in the dark, shining head torch ect onto glove reward?and then let her at some bunnies, not forgetting, reflecting jesses ect, is that it or is there more to it? advice lads please,I do have many years experience lamping with gun/dog just never done it with a bird before, looks like fun cheers CHARLIE CALLER.
  5. What an absolute moron, dont hesitate this fool needs stopping now, tell the land owner, explain the situation to him,get him stopped before he does some real damage,I would hate to grass on anyone but in this situation you have to put welfare and safety first tell your concerns to the feo, this kind of t--t needs to have his guns taken from him asap, not a nice thing to have to do mate but when was doing the right thing ever easy????CHARLIE CALLER.
  6. Howdy mate, lamber is a good choice,or lincoln,or for the cash you have, a second hand beretta 686 you should get a mint one for 6-700 quid,if you are going to shoot lots of clays then yes an ou is the best choice as a sbs will knock you about if you shoot loads of clays, there is a hell of a lot of choice out there for the money you have and its easy to get confused with all the choice,I would go to a good gunshop and have a look at a few in your price range, then pick a model you like and that fits you then stick with that and get a good deal, if you get a fixed choke gun make sure you get one
  7. I ONCE DID IT ON THE GROUSE MOOR I WAS BEATING ON BACK IN THE EIGHTIES, THOUGHT ONE OF THE GUNS A YANK WAS GUNNA PUKE HA HA

  10. Yes jms or jls do them or covert your own gun even over and unders, same guy that imports PES sound mods and mae phantom rimfire, google that and youll get the company, seriously mate try a twenty they are every bit as good as a 12,remember moderated shotguns only become effective with subsonic cartridges uuuuuurrr, try an auto 20 they are all 3"now and none toxic is easy to get if you want to shoot duck ect or a 16 0r 12 with a gentle ounce load,ATB with it CHARLIE CALLER.
  11. Nice one mate, yep you will remember it always, still remember mine,.22crosman pump up pistol,30 years ago when i was 13,like it was yesterday,me an the seeker have got a permission with black, ginger, and even white bunnies on it, an they all taste great, best of luck with your next one mate CHARLIE CALLER
  12. HAHA seeker still cant hit a cows arse @ten yards :feck:just kidding bud,cya soon
  13. Totally agree with the coments from experienced fox shooters, yes the hmr will kill foxes at sensible range, but its no cannon,Ishoot most of my foxes with .22 hornet that is roughly 3-4 times more powerfull than a hmr,but its still got its limitations,if they are likely to be 200yds plus out comes the .243 58 grain vmax now thats awesome on foxes,my feo would have a fit if you told him you were shooting foxes with hmr its a bunny gun/crows ect,by all means shoot the odd one when the chance presents itself, but targetting foxes full time with a tiny 17 grain bullet is asking for trouble, add a bit
  14. I repeat, do not buy an escort mate you will regret it I have a mate who bought one and while i admit he could shoot with it,the damn thing jammed from day one and he cleaned it religiously, and ive heard loads of similar stories, chances are few in wildfowling and when youve frozen all morning in your muddy hole the last thing you want is your gun to fail as the only chance of the flight comes over, benelli come with shims and spacers, so you can fit the gun to yourself, they operate on inertia not a gas piston, and thats why they are so reliable, yes they are quite expensive but if you look after
  15. HI mate I have one thing to say on the choice of SA shotguns,BENELLI,BENELLI, BENELLI,ok i know thats three things but if you can afford one GET 1, ive had my M1for 5 years now and can say honestly it has never jammed NOT ONCE,if you get a black or cammo synthetic ,the rust proofing coating on the barrel is very good I use mine for lots of coastal wildfowling, so understand what saltwater can do to a gun, in a v short space of time, get an M1 M2 OR SUPER BLACK EAGLE, you will not regret it,whatever you do do not buy an escort/hatsan they are garbage, with SA shotguns you get what you pay for,a
  16. Well mines got an 8 inch PES small cf mod on it and it really is superb, its quieter than my mates hmr, and oh so much more powerfull,Ihave no experience of loading cast bullets but ive spoken to guys that load them at moderate velocity and say what a good rabbit round they make, time after time I think il use the .243 tonight an end up putting it back in the cabinet and using the hornet,at the risk of repeating m yself , get one you will not be dissapointed let us know if you get one CHEERS CHARLIE CALLER.
  17. OK I do 90% of my foxing with my trusty cz 527 hornet, its a standard rifle with 8 inch pes moderator fitted, the problem can be the factory ammo most of which is not that good, except hornady vmax35 grain,i load my own 35grn vmax over 12.5 grns of hodgdon h110 rem small rifle primer, giving 3060fps,and sub half inch cloverleaf groups off the bipod at 100yds,it flattens charlie at up to 200yds and i can head shoot bunnies and explode crows at that range, in short the hornet is quiet for a cf with a good mod,its cheap to reload and is not troubled by the wind like a 17hmr for instance, theres a guy
  18. .177 everytime mate you cant beat the trajectory or more importantly the penetration.
  19.
