  1. I used .22 for about 10 years and then switched to .177 for the next 10. Literally thousands of bunnies in the field have helped me form my opinions regarding both calibres. .177 kills better than .22 in 12ftlbs guise,in my opinion,oh and 30 years of shooting experience,
  2. Only 100 yards? Never mind the SA80 Ive heard after reading some posts about the HMR the army are looking at replacing the 50cal barrett  already on its way mate .408 chey tac, mind you dont know how it would stand up to the mighty hmr thought they were looking at the .416cal with cold shot capability the hmr everbody becomes davy crocket Yes thats another option, but lets face it anything that uses .505 gibs as its parent case is going to be awesome, maybe they will neck it down ti .17

  4. Oh yes indeed, and I would also add shot lots of foxes with the .22 hornet and never yet had one run everyone dropped on the spot, far far better fox tool than the hmr,the problem with hmr is wind a little puff and that tiny bullet is blown way off course,it will be most interesting to see how many hmr boys swap em in now hornady have developed the .17 hornet,3650fps now thats more like it
  5. And theres the rub Charlie, you're hanging on the coat tails of these past 'greats' of the wildfowling game. And please do tell me why we should not??? do boxing fans not mention Ali or Frazier ect becouse they are not contempary,do football fans not still bang on about 1966,or motor racing fans still revere the greats from a golden age, I rather think they do,all sports/pastimes have their greats and long may it continue in my humble opinion, the men I mentioned and many like them were wildfowlers, that does not mean they did no inland shooting, of course they did,but that is the distinct
  6. Well she is correct on the first point, and wrong on the second,I shot a dog fox the other night and it was huge, deffo some big uns about this year thats for sure.
  7. Ok on the twentieth of february if you walk out onto your permission near the resevoir and a skein of greylags come off and fly over you and you shoot one you will lose your SGC for shooting out of season, now 120miles to the east you climb over the sea wall, walk out onto the foreshore and climb into a creek and shoot a greylag you will not lose your SGC,can you see the distinction? wildfowling below the high water mark is legal after inland duck or goose shooting has ceased, no machismo or hard mans sport element about it,the wildfowling greats,BB, Kenzie Thorpe, Able Chapman, Colonel Peter H
  8. I would agree that they are very good value for money, have the 4-16x50 on my .243 and ok it is no swarovski, but then its not swarovski money,it works well with the lamp and is pretty damn good in low light providing you dont crank it up too much, plus I like the christmas tree reticule and the ilumination is very helpful, in short, providing you dont expect it to out perform a nightforce, then for the money its a good buy with lots of features.
  9. Plenty of people helped me out over the years, so be nice to help someone out and put something back.
  10. PM me your number mate an we will have a chat, might take you out foxing one night,an you can bring your airgun and shoot some bunnies.
  11. Are you for real????? not really what you should be saying on an open forum is it.why havent the moderators stepped in and stopped this post, absolutely disgraceful what an @rse--le
  12. Can anyone recommend a reasonably priced slip or case long enough and wide enough to take my .243 with the bipod and moderator fitted, Im not going to pay a silly amount for one of those drag bag type things, but Im getting a bit fed up of having the butt of the rifle sticking out the end of my current slip, cheers
  13. If you want to try a 40 or 45 gn bullet try some sierra, they do a proper hornet bullet in both weights,I bought some 45 gn recently after being sick of getting ripped off with hornady bullets, and when I tried some of my handloads, i found they shot to exact same point of aim as 35 gn vmax@100 yds, really like them I must say,and I seem to get slightly better neck tension with them as apposed to vmax, which is great as I dont crimp after seating the bullet,oh and in my CZ they group at under half inch @ 100 yds
  14. I am afraid to say mate if that is all you can get out, and your shooting is as poor as you say then you really should not be shooting live quarry, make sure your gun fits you for a start, then get some lessons on the clays with a qualified coach, that will make all the difference, best of luck.

  18. I have just read my wildfowling club newsletter, it would appear some arse hole has been breasting birds and leaving the carcass over the bank at shep whites, if anyone knows who this is or if it is someone on here please stop it at once as they are are bringing the sport into disrepute, what a moron
  19. Dont know why you bother mate, obviously billy no job sat at home in his tracky bottoms dosent need any warm winter kit becouse he never goes out, oh except on giro days,it does not matter what you say to try and help people they always crawl out from the woodwork, what a shower
  20. Bit far to see from sheffield but will be looking on monday morning.
  21. I have called loads of hares by hand using the same call I use for foxes,or one of them anyway, I have no idea why they come to the call but they do, I personally dont shoot hares, just my choice, but I can say that it does work.
  22. Quite agree Benelli has to be your first choice mate, whatever you get just make sure you avoid the horrid Hatstand virus.
