Just make or buy some permanent flying jesses/straps then you are always ready to fly by just removing the mews jesses, nice thin straps get hard with wear and should never tangle, if you get stuck, send me some anklets, I will make you a pair and fit them for you, but they are so easy to make, get a decent quality hole punch though mate.

Why bother, just get a nice CZ .22 rimfire, no recoil, quieter, 4 times the power, far lighter, and probably cheaper (secondhand) job done but if you really must have one......... a Nikon prostaff is the scope to go for, a pal of mine has one on a 7mm rem mag, which has a touch more recoil than a gas ram air gun lol, still holds zero after about 6 years.

Personally I would not even bother firing a new Weihrauch, after the mess that was inside the last brand new 99s I tuned, full of turnings, far too much grease, some of which had got past the piston seal, which had turnings embedded in it, the rifle would barely make 10ftlbs, which is not surprising, given the state of the piston seal, a good fettling and a Vortek piston seal transformed it into a smooth twang free rifle which actually went over the limit, until a coil was taken off the spring, so for me anyway, any new HW WILL GET STRIPPED AND SORTED AT ONCE.

Only ever had one that you would call a proper evil bas*ard, in 30 odd years of keeping Ferrets, I could do nothing with him, one day he would be fine, the next it would latch on to you with real venom, the last straw came when he bit me old grandad, made a right mess, so a strategically placed .22 pellet sorted that job out, as others have said, I dont mind a kit nipping a bit, I expect it, but with some time spent with them they soon learn fingers are not for them, I guess Ferrets are just like people, you will always get one or two that are just plain bad.

Just to add if any lads round south Yorks got any kits, or on the way I would appreciate a heads up, as I will be needing a couple this season, cheers.

Welcome, if you drive why not have a day out and try to find some permission, expect some knockbacks but keep at it and you WILL get something, then you can practice to your hearts content until you are competent to shoot vermin, my advice on the rifles............. Strip them, totally de grease them, check for turnings embedded in the piston seals and replace if needed, lightly file/stone the cocking slots and the slot in the piston, polish the piston, and spring ends, and re lube properly, a light smear of moly paste or red rubber grease on the spring, some dri slide on the piston, and a da

.177 For Sale In Gloucestershire?
charlie caller replied to Paddypat's topic in General Airgun Discussion
I use a Brocock s6 and yes cracking rifle, you could do a lot worse than getting the lad a BSA ultra, or as Rez says another s6 , hope you get the lad summat decent I currently have a really nice . Benjamin discovery in .177 sat here, I have just done some work to it and I tell you what its a cracking little pcp, it may be for sale soon, but the owner is umming and arrring after seeing how good it is now lol. -
Yes its quirky, yes its interesting, but fu*k me, how to spoil a nice Falcon rifle, why not get a shotgun ticket and a .410 etc and still have some change left over, load of nonsense

First class old chap.

A speedy recovery sir, best wishes.

It will be ok out of the box, but with the apaling quality control and poor internal finish of HW rifles at present, it will benefit enormously from a drop in kit (Vortek would be my choice) a thorough polish, de burr and a proper lube will transform it from a pretty decent but twangy rifle into a super slick, smooth quiet very accurate rifle, I always find the 95 benefits from some weight at the muzzle, as they do tend to suffer a bit of muzzle flip, unlike its smaller stablemate the 99s which only seems to push straight back.

Ft Lb Advice.
charlie caller replied to Fieldsporthunter's topic in Rifle Reviews, Technical Help and Tips
Yes indeed, but I would strongly suggest that whatever maker (certainly one in this country) will have tested the rifle with a heavy pellet to make sure it does not go over, I dont know if its the case still, but Daystate always state that their rifles are tested with bis magnums, hence most doing 10.5 ish with a light pellet, and 11+ with bis mags, that said I have seen new rifles fitted with anti tamper, doing over the limit with heavy pellets, not by much, but nevertheless still over, food for thought. -

charlie caller replied to Fieldsporthunter's topic in Rifle Reviews, Technical Help and Tips
If the police have a rifle tested at a lab (which most do and have to pay for) the "lab" will use the heaviest pellets they have (in a pcp) usually Bis magnums, I have even heard a horror story (although I have no way of knowing if its true) of the rifle being tampered with to make it go over the limit, after all the law says "must not be capable of exceeding the 12ftlb limit" hence why a lot of rifles come out around 10.8 ftlbs, margin for error built in so to speak. -
Help Needed With An Old Sheridan.
charlie caller replied to andyfr1968's topic in Rifle Reviews, Technical Help and Tips
As said a terrific amount of stuff on youtube about them, they are not difficult to work on, and spares are readily available. -
What a silly ugly retard, hoping for a bit of fame.

So Got A Hw77, What Now ?.....
charlie caller replied to Paulnix's topic in General Airgun Discussion
Brake cleaner is fine mate, just dont get any on the piston seal, give it a good clean until its spotless, use your 12 bore cleaning rod and wipe the cylinder and inside of the compression tube out, get some moly paste, or red rubber grease to "lightly" lube the spring after de grease and polishing the spring ends (sorry could not help myself) some muc off dri slide for the piston and some pure silicon oil for the piston seal, just around the edges mate, that will sort her out -
So Got A Hw77, What Now ?.....
charlie caller replied to Paulnix's topic in General Airgun Discussion
Im the same mate, got shotgun, rimmy, .243 but will always have an air rifle, there will always be a place for them, not to mention the low cost fun aspect, a 77 really is a doddle to strip, it would be well worth you at the very least stripping it and de greasing and re lubing it properly, HW quality control is terrible these days, so a good clean to remove all the factory gunk and possible (quite likely) metal turnings from the inside would pay dividends mate. -
Being British means nothing to me, a person of Asian or African decent can be British, I am English, and proud of the fact.
