  1. Dont ya just love time wasters, I think some of them make a bit of a hobby out of it, a while back I was selling an hw95 for a pal, a complete pratt on this site rang and said Im coming tonight at 6-30 please dont let anyone else have it, so I cut my day short and headed home, guess what he never showed up, when I tried to ring, he had blocked my number, what a pr*ck, good luck with the sale mate.
  2. Quick question here lads, my ticket is up for renewal later in the year, Im thinking of adding an fac air rifle, do I have to specify calibre, power etc or do I just put fac air rifle? And get what I want, cheers.
  3. You dont ask you dont get mate, no problem, just one more thing, if you have any skills, joinery, mechanics, building etc mention that you are happy to offer some work in exchange for shooting, you will be amazed how ears prick up at the mention of a bit of free labour, good luck.
  4. The way to get permission is to dress smart, and go and bruise your knuckles door knocking, dont just try farms, try stables, garden centres, allotments etc etc, I will give you a little tip, when you approach farmers, dont mention that you want to shoot with an air rifle, many farmers will not take you seriously, just ask for shooting permission, try and find fields with a lot of pigeon on them, go and suggest that you could help control them, you will get many knock backs, be polite, and thank them for their time, but keep at it and you WILL get a yes, and soon after more will follow, you wil
  5. Hi lads, I require a couple of jill kits for the coming season, sandy or white preferred as will be working with the hawk, obviously from good working stock, pm me if you have one or two spare, cheers.
  6. I have said it before, but I think I am from the last generation to enjoy that kind of freedom, out all day and night sometimes, camping, fishing, ferreting, air rifles, we used to roam miles and miles, and apart from being shouted at by the odd farmer (who most I suspect had a sneaking regard for us) nobody bothered us, happy carefree days, I do feel sorry for young lads now, with their computer games and so on, brilliant times I will never forget.
  7. Always thought the crown would be suspect number 1, well done, spot on.
  8. Yes mate they are superb, and the seal you get in the kit far outshines anything I have ever used.
  9. I could not agree more, Moorman, loads and loads of creance work is not beneficial, more so perhaps with a red, as you said a tweak in weight, get it on a carcass, then hunt its ass off, thats why I like lamping so much, it builds fitness fast, rather lots of tree flying, which takes a good while to build any meaningful fitness.
  10. Good advice above mate, there is no point spending hours manning her etc at the moment, just put her away, up her weight and let her moult, by all means (indeed do) keep some contact with her, bow her out, give her a bath to use, then when she has finished the moult get her out and get her hunting, weight control is NOT the secret with redtails mate, repetition, to a point, with big rewards, much better than 30 creance flights for a chick leg, is 5 good long creance flights with a BIG reward, thats how to motivate a redtail, once you have found a good flying weight, I.E. 2lb9oz stick to it, as
  11. Rabid, if you have not already, check the crown mate, I have known air rifles, rimfires, and fullbore all affected by a poor crown, a mates .22-250 grouped like a shotgun at 50 yards, a re-crown and it now groups under an inch at 250yards.
  12. Well that looks like a good start mate, nice one.
  13. Thats interesting mate, it certainly looks like it was the mag all along, if I were you I would go back to the shop and exchange the mag,I would have thought he would give you one to try from another rifle, and send that back under warranty, oh and get a single shot tray just in case.
  14. Right, I am reducing the price for a quick sale, the first with £300 cash gets it, no offers, or swaps, this is an absolute bargain, no time wasters please, cheers.
  15. Yep they are brilliant, whoever buys this will be absolutely delighted, I dont really want to sell it, but I am going to go back to springers for a while, pcp are so clinically accurate, so selling this to fund a springer project.
  16. For sale my superb s6 concept, the rifle is in pristine condition, only around 2 years old, comes with the correct Brocock silencer so no adapter needed, one 6 shot mag, a brand new Richter optics 6-24 ao ir scope which is brilliant and suits the rifle, quality mounts, a brand new neoprene sling, and fill adapter, all ready to shoot, the rifle is running at 11.7 ftlbs with H&N Baraccuda hunter extreme 9.57 grain pellets, and is quite simply deadly accurate with these, and I will include a tin of these with the sale, the rifle wants for nothing, is open to any trial, the sweet spot is from
  17. Thanks both of you, no I have never heard any definitive proof either, but as my local supermarket has it, and I used it a few years back, and the bird certainly had a fast trouble free moult, I thought what the hell it cant do any harm, even if it does no good, guess I am just going to have to be patient lol.
  18. I have always loved paper case cartridges nitro or otherwise, I must admit to having always fancied black powder shooting, have done a bit with a muzzle loader and really enjoyed it, but a nice breach loader with some home rolled stuff would be great Im sure, whats the cleaning regime like with black powder lads?
  19. Just wondering how peoples birds are moulting this year, in a complete turn about, (I was going to fly a Gos this year) the opportunity came up for me to buy a year old female Harris, she is a small female, but is blessed with huge feet, and did very well indeed in her first season last year, accounting for Rabbit,Pheasant, and even a Hare, now I would not normally buy a bird at this time of year, but knowing her achievements in her first season, and it was a case of now or never I decided to go for it, now I know a first year Harris is sometimes slow to moult, but was just wondering if anyone
  20. Ye well, you know me Rez...........Do I look like I give a fook
  21. I think he meant to say "the rifle is NOW shooting perfectly at 25 yards"
  22. There is a supplier of Vortek products in Lincolnshire, I think Mark Williams posted you the info.
  23. They are all good is the best answer, my choice for the 97 would be a Vortek kit with lots of polishing and fettling, and carefully setting the power.
