  1. REP I have an Anschutz 1417 .22LR which I bought second hand and I find the accuracy superb. Unfortunately it had a varnished beech stock which looked appalling. I removed the varnish and attempted an oil finish but it still looks awful. Any advice or comments on a matt black painted surface. Can anyone point me at any books, articles or other source of advice on preparation, what paint, what surface finish for best wear, etc. I realise I might finish up needing to buy a new walnut stock for £160+ but it might be worth a try! 2. Many thanks to all who replied. It looks like it's the SAK for me.
  3. REP Anyone recommend a good sound moderator for .22LR that doesn't cost the earth (I'm a pensioner). I've considered Sako, SAK and Wildcat Cub. Bit worried about the Cub despite good reviews as it's made of plastic and I was worried about cleaning out the crud that accumulates.
