  1. Probably $1,000.000 each and would last 1 minute in the ground over here in the UK.
  2. I grew Black Russian 3 years ago and they were one of the best that i have ever eaten but a very poor cropper which i think that many outdoor Heritage Toms are. The ones i grew this year were three different strains of Red Blight resistant types and the black ones were among them .
  3. Last season we grew over 100 strains plants and they all got Blight and died , this year we grew three types totaling 48 plants of Blight resistant, strains . 5 of these plants produced Jet Black fruit and though an unusual color taste very nice
  4. Good effort ?i hope to snare a few myself come October.
  5. He will still get a bit of a tickle when a blast of HOT PINEAPPLE CHUNK smacks him on the PROSTRATE.
  6. Their are a few places in that area where Black Rabbits show every year, they were introduced before the War to increase the Meat yield and improve the quality of the Fur, up the Road a few miles away on the Althorpe estate i caught a few White ones ! these had been introduced around 1900 to make the Lawns look nice and the strains are still in their Genes.

  8. Your lucky ! in the early 50s i was with my Granddad driving his Motor Bike and Side Car through the Warren Hills in Leicestershire we drove over one after another both dead and alive , we went for Miles through Charnwood Forest and then back ! i have never forgotten the sensation of going over all those animals or the smell .
  9. There were plenty of blacks here but the only ones i tripped up were these tinkers, very good Mushroom fields though

    Rail strikes

As a kid we caught Trains everywhere it was Pennies now days i wonder who can afford it ? i understand that people in the know can get cheap fares by booking months in advance and certain times of the day but who wants to do all that for a day out?.
  11. I have kept Ferrets for many years and i have never had one that needed treatment from a Vet i might be lucky but my old Rabbiting partner was just the same ! if they are kept in a large Cage or better still a Shed in good clean Bedding fresh food and Water there is little that can go wrong with them . I have had them go down rapidly and die over night and trouble with Milk retention in Jills and even a couple killed underground but nothing else that common sense could not cure though i did have one go in a burrow and come out minus its tail , but in answer to the question i would not hesit
  12. I have had it a few times and i believe it is a design fault its is easy enough to return to its proper shape with a trap setter but i cannot explain how . I have used several types of Bodygrips but that is the only one that has this problem and now only use the 116 which much better and free from this problem .
  13. I could never shoot a Jay coz i like em .... Lovely Bird .
  14. They wouldn't last long in the Midlands if they fed on Rabbits ! Fact .
  15. When i was trapping plenty of Rabbits i would catch two or three a season they were nearly always big Fitchitt types though i once had a Albino alive in a Fenn trap , since the Rabbits Declined 5 years ago i have not seen any
  16. Rabbits can go into shock when they have just had a belt of off a Stoat or a Weasel .
  17. Rabbits in the Midlands are jumping through Wire Fences all day and night why would they hesitate going into a Wire Trap.
  18. Some people over here in the UK can make a living out of catching Rabbits in Wire cages or Snares and they are at the top of their game and in my opinion if they say their tools are the best for the job then the are ! those Wooden ones are to heavy and i doubt that they work to well without bait also whet set in a large area each trap would have to be approached and checked individually whilst Wire ones can be scanned from a distance ,there is another Wooden Rabbit Trap being praised on that Forum its the same size and shape of a Lorry Wheel and it looks ridiculous though most o
  19. Around 1967 i built a house at Apethorpe ! it was for a chap who was a famous as a Circus performer at the time called COCOA THE CLOWN a very big name back in the day .
  20. Two weeks ago i drove over 300 miles between Leicestershire and the South of England and never saw one dead on the Roads we traveled on , around me are 4 massive shooting estates and not a Rabbit on them .
  21. It looks to me that you are setting your Wires to low though their dos not seem to be much traffic on those runs , if you are just starting out i would wait until late September when the ground is clearer and the runs better defined and of course there will be more Rabbits if they are left to breed . Snaring is not hard to pick up but i think you have started on the wrong . type of land for a novice and you will soon get disheartened
