I once had three badgers in a net at the same time , not for long though. why what happened ? It was on a huge rabbit /badger set at Quenby Hall,my granpa was behind the net ,me and a mate were lining the field ,two had gone straight through ,the third was tangled up next to the end pin ,it was away after a minutes struggle, there was a few rabbits in the net but that was the last time we used it [got me thinking now ]The net was hand knitted out of some pink, cotton like material, grandpa got it one night in the early 5os when he caught some lads pegging a wood at east Leake ,

how exactly did the magies get trapped if the traps were in tunnels "the maggies must have seen the rabbits belly up ,come down for breakfast ,and WALLOP." this makes it sound like they landed on the traps They must of just walked in mate , have you never saw a maggi walking?

The chap who used to take me ferreting when i was a kid caught birds,he had walking sticks that pulled apart ,a bit like sword sticks, when he found were they were feeding he would unsheath the limed rod from the stick and place it in the reeds, never cared for it my self, most of them die anyway.

A keeper i know took over 100 rabbits to a dealer in Boston, they were all good rabbits head shot the night before ,the price agreed was half a quid apiece, strung up gutted ,and delivered ,a 40 mile round trip away, when he got there the price changed to 15 pence each . His place is in a very rabbity area and he .along with the keepers in the area no longer bother as its not worth the hassel , and it dosent cover his expenses.Last week my lad brought 25 brace of pheasants off a local shoot, the fellah was happy to get rid for a score,he said the same,by the time you have finished driving round

I have used the holder for years, havent come across any potentional issuses as of yet, and cant see why, its the same as putting a snare on a fence wire etc, but its on a hoop, does the same thing, all i can say is instead of people commenting on it or knocking it , is give it a try, then give some feed back. they are easy to make its a shame the other people like you johnb, dont feel the same way as you do etc, thanks john cheers rob due to the condition of my hands i cannot tie knots On peg snares i secure the wire on the tealer with a yellow electrical crimp , same with fence

The fence has not been up a year and there under it ,its two types of good quality wire ,one for badgers one for rabbits, idont think its down to workmanship ,the land is very uneven and prone to flooding, they have put stone over the underground fold in the mesh ,but the run off from the fields has washed the very light sandy soil beneath away.God is good sometimes. Not dug in then micky, half a job by the sounds of it.. Have fun No Ian ,it looks a good job,the other side of the track is pasture land and the fence is perfect, the arable side has the problems,i think that ,the heav

Drop boxs will clear rabbits from any area if they are correctly used, its a very good ,but expensive method of rabbit control, the traps are usually a permanant fixture in the fence and only need looking at the morning after being primed [usually twice a month].I have worked on two estates where this system has been brought in and the long term effect upon the rabbits is devarstating.I checked some boxs with a keeper a large estate in Northamptonshire one summer a few years back and the amount of rabbits caught had to be seen to be believed. the question was, will drop boxes harm

no it will not otc, peat is the best covering for fenn traps , trust me , i have tried everything over the years and peat is the best , i used to cover traps with sieved soil for years , but you always seemed to get sum run under the plate and when rabbits hit the treadle plate , they wouldn,t set the trap off and you were left with a clean plate and no catch, with peat being so light it bridges the gap between plate and frame leaving a hollow under the plate and nothing to impead the firing Then I must have been doing it wrong all this time then . . . . I think we'll have to agree to d

I set some fenn traps along a railway embankment on tuesday morning, the embankment is a mixture of stone and clinker,no soil,my usual method is to rub the trap down till it sits firmly ,place a piece of tissue on the treadle, then a handfull of cheap garden peat,i then tie the chain to a root ,brambles, fencing ,etc,as no peg would hold in this ground. When i checked the traps this morning i found 9 dead rabbits 7 stiff 2 warm, all well caught, and all outside the holes, the last trap had been tied to a metal bar that went over the top of the hole, the rabbit in this trap had jumped from the hole

Same as you ASD,...the price has never really changed.... Fecking mystery ?.... £1.00 a rabbit,..from Butchers,..but after a few 50's or 60's they start getting nervy,.and then they tell ya to hold fire for a week or so,.and when supplying the Game Dealers,..its often 80p or even Fifty Fecking Pence I can't think of many other 'items' that have remained the same price, for so many years ? All the best,.CW.. You could have sold any amount of rabbits in Leicesters pubs in 1965, i got 5 bob apiece for them ,that bought you two pints of Shipstones bitter and 10park drive, and you st
