I've found pics of that place; Nobottle range It appears to be disused. Do you know whether that was an MoD range or a private one? Do you know who owns it at present? Cheers, J. 4. Exactly what i would of thought. Wouldnt suprise me if this was a vet job then released back into the wild. Which im pretty much sure is Illegal to release a captive grey squirrel back into the wild? Yes it is illegal to release a grey squirrel into the wild as it is a mink........both being non-native species. The vet theory is one i hadn't thought of....but the rear leg wound was open but clean, i would have thought it would have been closed by sutures had it been a vet job though. a couple of years ago two youths were up before the court for mutalating a cat ,then burning it alive
  5. One of the most productive methods `of rabbit control on hunting forums ,is often the keyboard.
  6. you can have all the power in the world, but it wont do any good if most of it is used to throw the animal off of the trap,OTC is right when he said the clutch type trap may be the way forwards,i think if this trap was beefed up,and tweaked a bit ,it might come up to scratch, failing that ,whats wrong [other than price ]of the soft catch leg hold trap.
  7. A lot of people set fenns and check them the next day ,if they have made a catch it is usually dead,P&G said he was checking his traps THREE times a day and finding squirrels still alive, some years back i was trapping rabbits on a dissused railway ,i was using 40 fenns and ,checking FOUR times a day,big rabbits were dead,as were very small ones, those that came inbetween ,were often alive.Isometimes wonder,if ,people who swear by fenns would change there minds if they were setting this amount and checking4 times a day for about six weeks,i think there is plenty of power in the springs, its j
  8. Ihave thought that for a long time now ,the mark six deals with adult rabbits alright ,but its when you have smaller animals on the traps the problems start,i think the design is wrong for young rabbits and rats ,if the trap is in, a sloping hole, or is not level in its bed ,it will tend to throw smaller ,lighter things off, resulting in foul catches,i no longer set this trap for young rabbits,i to prefer the B G,with them ,the end result is usually fatal .

  15. The people at the hall close by ,have asked me to remove a few rabbits that have become a problem,my lad went down with his rifle and shot 17 rabbits and i followed up with a few wires, i got there at first light yesterday the place looked like a battle ground, the five snares i had set had all caught ,but there was only one rabbit left, there was rabbit guts all over the place, loads of bluebells flattened, and the place stunk of foxs,i think the full litter was at lunch, ive had to put the pics on the little computer ,as i think the big one is porned up ,and wont work .
