  1. I think this a Fenn 6 as i caught a lot of Rabbits on this fence with them and caught them well , i think at this place the rabbits came under tight to the ground and the elasticity of the fence absorbed the bounce of the trap ?not sure really but they did seem to be caught squarely across the chest /shoulders instead of the Head .
  2. I started out with this lad when i was 12 and we stuck it out together for the next 55 years Ferreting, long netting and all other sorts of mischief , at the start Rabbits were very thin on the ground and each weekend we would cycle to some spot about 30 miles for a couple of Rabbits though one Sunday in 64 we landed on a disused Railway line near to Grantham and caught 34 a lot which were retrieved with Georges big line Ferret and a lot of digging, on the way home we were stopped by the Police for having no lights and the Rabbits were confiscated as they were not satisfied with our ex

    Downsizing

I retired in 2007 after an accident and after 3 years off i done some building for all my kids the some work for a Builder i knew nothing to hard but very well paid , tried living in Spain and hated it then up in Yorkshire for a couple of years [ loved it] then back to the Shires because my Mrs missed the Kids , Grand Kids , and Great Grand Kids , in the Seasons i would go Rabbiting every day and never get fed up and i had plenty of Rabbits to go at but now there are no Rabbits so i had nothing to do also i missed going work as i have always enjoyed it then out of the blue a Lady in the
  6. There is not much chance of catching qwt in that Wire find some Fences and start there with something like this . Buy GWs Book ! every thing you need to know is in it with easy to follow pictures
  7. Years ago when there were no locators you remained silent ! you had to listen for every bump or squeal that was made so that you had a good idea where to enter a liner , now days people are not as cautious because the rely on a locater to find a grounded Ferret but common tells you it is better to be quite and still until the action starts and then some noise is acceptable, over the years whilst digging i have had hundreds probably more rabbits bolt when digging out or just putting nets down so who knows but i have noticed that Rabbits bolt better into longnets rather than purse nets .
  8. Hang on before you buy because before too long i think there will be plenty for sale ! i have access to alot of once good rabbiting land in Leicestershire Northamtonshire and Lincolnshire over the years me and my mate have made some good bags at these spots but now you cannot find a Rabbit anywhere . Ihave put a lot of miles in over the summer looking at places where i ferreted or lamped over the last 60 years a nd there is nothing , RHD is the culprit and though you do not see it in action i think it is deadlier than Mixi .
  9. I don't think those Kill clips are much good after a few firings the tension is unequal which will affect the release causing the trap to twist.
  10. A local Keeper dropped a few Birds o n Tuesday . it was dark so he hung them on a slat on the Log shed anyway they came along the spa for a nibble and one paid the price last night and as they are coming in i expect another to night. I am not happy with the 55 i much prefer the 116 or Duke magnum , have you tried using the middle Notch

  14. I was born in the 40s and grew up through the 50s and 60s what i thought as normal in those days was to see people with limbs missing or destroyed faces , this could be seen in any town or village in England and anywhere else in the World i imagine , what i never heard from any that i met was complaining about their injuries ! they just got on with it and done the best they could....What a Breed they were ! and what would they think of todays stock who think they are being brave when they sit behind a computer talking about the agony of Toothache, Sciatica and a twinge in the Shoulder.
  15. Quite right ? and as a hunting sight it is all but finished ! people only come here to talk about their twinges , what the latest film they saw was or any other topic they overhear at the job centre .
  16. No wonder the Country is in such a state .........A grown man sobbing his heart out over a TWINGE , Big Pap
  17. Its awful when you take someone with you and they go back worse still if they take people with them.
  18. I started work with Sid Aitkins Steeplejacks in 63 at £2 ,15 shillings a week , i was there for 8 months then i was took on by a local Builder at £3 a week. Fred did a good show but there is a lot more to the job than knocking Chimneys down
  19. The top Picture of the Rabbits around the water hole is one in a sequence the next picture shows them all poisoned .
  20. I don't suppose there are many people left who used them or saw them being used , they had their uses but has a Rabbit trap but they were non starters in my opinion though back in the day there was not much else available .?
