Lancs Lad replied to mubz2cool's topic in Deer Stalking & Management
seem to be a number of "Celebs" doing game on TV this moment, and a number of poor shoots being taken, Kill it cook it eat it, the girl that didnt kill the red, had to be finished off by the ghillie. Gordon, doing that roe, must admit, didnt recon much of the shot and how the gun was used on the post, wouldnt have done it myself. But I wasnt there. Mubs, did the G Man have any experience before. And, you can appreciate Mubz comments, bet it was nigh on impossible to stalk with half of ITV behind you. -
Lads you want to get on the quad sticks. They are a 4 legged stick, that open out and then you rest your rifle between the two forked secions. one at the front, the other at the butt. Holds your rifle TRUE and steady, no lateral motion. Dropped my first Doe on them. No wobble at all...

I met the lads at the CLA Gamefair when they tented up next to us. Had a good chat with them and they were showing me the kit. The beams are quite tight, only problem at that time they didnt have any filters or dimming capability. Kit was expenisive, even when you compare it to some of the other stuff out on the market, but you pays your money. Saying that.......Ive got a 300 quid torch.................

Stealth nets are the way forward. Heck of a lot better than the standard mill net. Light weight, shake dry, dont rot, there is even a seperate "stubble net" out in the market place.

Gents you want to get youself a copy of the DEERQUEST CD, it has all of the bank questions and answers.. Doing mine after xmas.....

Big bags are spot on.......on the basis that 1 - you have got an off loading source. 2 - you have the requirement to shoot them. Its all about the sport and protection. Learning to deal with both sides of our "hobby" is paramount. I eat what I shoot, bar foxes and corvids, and have a game dealers number in my phone for the "red letter days".
