cheers mate, do you or have you worked one then ?, found myself a pup. just clueing myself up on this X really and fishing for info. do loads of mooching and live in a good spot. be mostly bramble patches and woodlands. You can,t go far wrong with the cross for working any cover but once they go to ground the first time you wont stop them.My brother had a big dog we had to dig to him all the time but ive never seen a better dog to find cubs to ground this time of year.Myself i went for russel x cocker x beagle but found they go like hounds on fox so ive just added terrier to them to
-
You,l find a good beddy x russel will sing out when hunting a line i lined mine with my beagle x cocker x russel dog over the moon with pups i,d like to keep the whole litter .ATB taker.

what age would you start a dog to fox preban of course
Taker replied to Simply Bull 02's topic in Lurchers & Running Dogs
Simply..had a few good fox dogs over the years never liked slipping them with another dog just slip on a bolted fox if possible in the daylight as to age ive had deerhound x go mad for it from 10 months and do a tidy goob .Ive also had a good many that 18 months or so that never were any good ATB taker. -
Back a couple of weeks ago when it was cold i know of four fox,s that were found curled up dead under trees and hedges around where we live . I put this down to being such a hard winter and cold for so long but in the last two weeks my mates have been out with their terriers and pushed out two fox,s that couldn,t run.the reason for this i don,t know never herd of it before the fox,s looked in good nick they tell me .ATB taker.

Having had a couple of both crosses i would have to say deerhound x the bull x dogs do there job you cant fault them i personally think the deerhound x does it better.Strike ,general fieldcraft for want of a better word they just seem to have that something about them. ATB taker.

Had a beddy x wippet that only grew to 19 ins she was alright bushing and running in the day time.I found her to slow on the lamp when the rabbit gave her the turn she couldn,t catch up quick enougth. She was great on fox run on the lamp with another dog she would run just ouside the beam and turn um for other dog .ATB taker

Hi rich..it happend to me in 1999 mate i lived in a semi cottage one of six in a lane lived there for nine years no probs. My lurchers used to howl early in the morning and early evening tried every thing to stop it my deerhound x would start the others would join in.Then we had a copper move in next door i fell out with him then the trouble started. He made so many complaints to the local council they put equipment in his house to test noise level.I was then told that if i didnt get rid of the lurchers they would start court proccedings i saw my mate whos a councilor he looked at the case and a
