Pablo Esc, Why would a terrier man want the service of a 10 month old dog? Seems hasty to me. The tradition down here is to gift pups, as soon as money is involved the terrier strain suffers. It is about respect for the dogs, money demeans them. P3D- 364 replies

Redquill, A Miniature EBT bitch was used in one kennel of white dogs in Cork 4 generations back (roughly 8 years ago). Some of the dogs from that line are working very well today. They would not get kennel space if they did not. The following is just my own experience of this outcross, other people will have their view I am sure. The physical attributes are easily spotted, domed head, brindle markings, ear set, large boned, even after all this time. The influence on the size varies from medium 18 lb. to large 24 lb. I have not seen any small dogs but I have not seen all of them! -

Didn't you know that dogs with average intelligence can understand around 165 words a bit like dog IQ. Fells and Lakies fall Into this category. Then White Russell and Sealyham types along with Border Collies and German Shepards have a higher level of understanding in the region of 195 - 205. Then Black Patterdales types and Plummer types are down the spectrum of understanding around the 105 - 115 level. A bit dumb really! I thought everyone knew that? Your being generous at 105 - 115 for the Patterdales.................LOL Would have thought 4-5.......fight, eat, kill.......SOLD

Shane, Have used the following and kept dry inside and out. All are cheap compared to the branded names and can be got locally. Jacket - the Co-Op store for about 70 euro. Fleece - Discount outdoor rail about 50 euro Base layer - 15 euro at Lidl or Aldi It needs the 3 working together to keep really dry. The base layer is the smart part, it wicks the sweat away from the body into the fleece. The jacket is made from RipStop material and can take working in cover without tearing. Baseball cap inside the hood is best for driving rain. ATB G

I Am Not A Terrier Man But Does This Look Right
p3d replied to my hounds's topic in Earthdogs & Working Terriers
Have to agree with Dawn B, Over 24lbs when fully grown................the seller knows that one of the parents is not a terrier. Tails should have been docked by now as well. -
Bet some lads who work construction are cringing when they see a photo like that. The sides could have been sloped more for safety if there was a machine on site and the depth was known before starting. A brave man.

Checkout the FACEBOOK page "Westmeath Working Terrier Club Show". A couple of shots are up there now.

Photos should be ready in a day or two.

I hope that the hunting community get behind this and contact their MP's before next weeks vote. For terriermen in particular it is important to take every opportunity to push back on the ban and the way it impacts their work. Pest control is a service that the public need and Cameron is right IMO to make progress where he can. This may seem like a small step on the road to a total repeal of the Hunting Ban but small steps count. If Barrie is behind this then that should be reason enough for hunting people to act. Good luck with the vote.

Thanks for sharing the link to " Almost..." p3d. I found my way to this Irish working terrier club once via JRTCB web site and discovered Rawden Lees' Fox Terrier free to download. Both volumes. Books I had dreamed of owning when a kid and never got around to buying when they were reprinted. I particularly liked the stamp on one of the 1st pages, " this is the property of the New York Library " or something similar. I imagine a story on it's own to tell ? The write up on the Sealyham on your shared link is really interesting. The most fascinating being that one of the most influential or a

Skip1234, Take a look at these pages before you pay crazy money for a Sealyham TYPE terrier. There appears to be a lot of mis-information put out there about this strain, even by sporting magazines that should know better. Go to this link and scroll down to the update shown above. You can download the complete "Field" article and form your own opinion. http://iwtf.ie Read the Almost complete history of the working Sealyham here. http://iwtf.ie/?page_id=2273 If anyone has information or photographs that they could add to this history please post them. Looking forward to the show Kevin , excellent judges for both terriers and lurchers. -
Young at heart maybe, You must have the wrong man, simple mistake. Must agree with Kevin and Shaneg, JH's dogs would be considered strong in most peoples opinion.
