Thanks for the response. Now I nee to suss out an effective but economic way of building an outdoor kennel.

I now have a 9 week chesapeake pup, my wife is alergic to it. We have always had dogs in the 15 years of our marriage but have not had one in 10 months as the last one died at the age of 14 the month before our daughter was born. We have decided to give it a 6 weeks to see if she becomes acclimatised to it; otherwise it will have to be an outdoor kennelled dog. Q1 Has anyone else experienced anything similar? Q2 What is the most efficient and economic way to build an outdoor kennel fenced in set up for the dog?

I think you have been given good advice above but I would add another point; a pup kennelled too early with other dogs becomes a doggy dog ( I mean a dog that looks to other dogs for its fun)I want my dog to look to me as its source of fun so that I can get sharper obedience out of the pup. I don't want the pup second guessing my commands by looking to the other dogs to see what they are wanting. I was tempted to call the dog Beggar as my fav single malt is Ardbeg. Her indoors was not for that in the slightest.

The owner could not get approval for the name Hunters Moon as it was already taken, so she is going for a whisky theme. Therefore there is only one name, Toddy. It is amazing how a change of focus can give ideas. Cheers anyway for your suggestions.

I am getting my new chesapeake pup in 6th of July when he is 8 weeks old and for the first time in my life I am struggling for a decent name. My past dogs names were Collie x Clyde, collie x Dozer, GSD Storm, Russian Black Terrier Lenny Its pedigree name with out the affix (breeder does not want mentioned on the forum) is Hunters Moon I come up with names and her indoors hates them. If there is a thread with good dog name suggestions feel free to point me to a link. My searches for dog names were too vague. Cheers Hawkeyethenoo

Thankyou for the warm welcome, just on to browse for a little while as I am sipping a 10 yr old single malt, Talisker.

Hi, I am new to the forum from Cowal in Argyll, I used to beat on a local estate but currently my outdoor life is involved in tracking people or animals. I am also looking to get a new dog in autumn 2010, most likely a chessie as I was very impressed with the characters of the ones I have met in the past.
