i saw a bird today that ive never seen before. im not right good with birds of prey except the more common ones. this bird was big, was soaring, it had big broad wings with finger like feathers at the tips and had a sort of inverted v shapped tail. it was i think as big if not bigger than a buzzard. but deffo not a buzzard. any ideas what this bird was? cheers guys. also the bird was in a quite built up area, but not far away from open land, there was also a football pitch near by. and was wondering if someone could have been useing this bird to maybe scare pidgeons or something away from the
  4. had my plummer pup out when he was about 6 months, we were walking up a hill by the side of a 5 a side f-ball pitch in the dark. when we got to the top of the hill there was an old burst f-ball. so i threw it down the hill for the dog to chase and retrieve. as i thrw the ball the dog set off running, as soon as the ball touched the ground, a fox shot out from the edge of the pitch and ran towards the ball. the fox and the dog both stopped dead at the same time. with the ball about five yards away from both of them, a sort of mexican stand off for a few seconds, the dog then growled and came ba

  6. ive found them to be ok in the ultra, only at close range out to 20 yrds on rats. good stopping power.
  7. maybe the length of the hose is too long for the bore of the pipe that is welded on to the exhaust, and there is too much pressure and the strimmer is struggling to push the exhaust fumes so far round the hose, and the exhaust is backing up. just a thought dan.
  8. you must be doing some good mate. would love to get on a farm with that many on it.
  9. i went up for a bath 1 night, while i was in the bath i heard the front door getting knocked. after my bath i came down stairs to see my missus sat with a little pup on her knee. the woman who called with the pup had told her that if she didnt take it, he was going in the bucket. turnss out he was 5 weeks old. well that was 14 yrs ago and we still have him. he is completely deaf now, and really slowing up. he has been a cracking little terrier, and will be sadly missed by all the family when he goes
  10. i give mine agood rinse out with salt water, then apply tcp diluted with water, equal parts, just to be on the safe side.
  11. well i no its true or i wouldnt say it would i??? im not talking about your average dog here im talking about getting the best of the best to run on out of a litter ive seen loads of terriers do this and become excellent workers how many times do i have to say it! proper terriers are born to it and its there from an early age if your clever enough to see it. i once had a fox in a trap and was passing the pig shed where my dogs were so i called in to check on them. anyway i was cleaning the pups that were now 10 weeks old and i accidently stood on a dog pups toe and the poor little fella was go
  12. Not sure how you make sure were and how deep your pup gets bitten ,If you have a child at 9 or 10 and give him a belt round the head there's every chance he start crying or sulk of,do the same to a 20yr old and he will give you a belt back if he as some fight in him ,its called maturing .You can have a 5 stone lad who looks like a piece of string who is bullied at school become a champion of the world when he its maturate LET YOUR DOGS BE PUPS BEFORE THEY BECOME A GLADIATOR sounds like sense.

  14. paul thats the kind of advice I would of expected to see posted, well done mate, wirralman im by no means an expert, and its only what ive experienced. everyone has their own ideas on whats right and whats wrong. what i did was ask a couple of people who had more experience than me and was told,"dont expect too much till the dog is 12 months old" in my opinion this was sound advice, as all dogs mature at different rates. and as well as not expecting too much. i get the feeling that what these 2 guys were saying was dont right it off too soon either. i know i was well keen to get my dog
  15. is it a single shot or multi?
  16. took my terrier at 6 months for a look. wasnt interested just watchedthe other dog. left it a month took him back on his own, and he was bang on em. now he loves it no stoping him.

  18. was walking on one of my bits of permission a while back and i discovered the remains of a buzzard in a gin trap. i went and had a word with the land owner, but he said it must belong to the next farmer along(with a big grin). ive never bothered goin back to the small holding since. its a permission lost but, just dont agree with what was obviously going on
  19. the first time i took my plummer out i took it with another dog. we dug a rat out and the other dog killed it, but my pup wasnt interested at all. but the next time he saw one he wanted to kill it. itll probably just take a bit of time. like bbb says slowly slowly etc etc
