A true Sporting Gent.. So many happy memories from my youth, and upto the present day. As a young lad in the 1970's I was lucky enough to tag along, Ratting on the river Irwell with a mixed pack of Mongrels,Terriers and Lurchers. The madness and mayhem of the shows in the 1980's, then the weekend drinks with the lads. The progression onto better times with better dogs was a natural path for you to take. You truly earned your respect from others, with your passion for all country pursuits, though Coursing was always your real love . The early morning, and late night jaunts into Yorkshire, Che

England Fell And Moorland Penine Area

Up for this one. -
I would say that if you recieved a hundred serious posts by guys that know the ins and outs of the life of the Fox.. there would be a few differences regarding answers about the same questions. Reasons mainly being that the Foxes behaviour is usually dictated by it's surroundings. So different people will have different views from regions all over the country. The Red Fox is a single type of species in this island, but it behaves as though there are many different types. There is only one genetic type, though there are different tags for areas they live, Urban Fox, Country Fox, Greyhound Hill

Been out with this young lurcher almost daily from it being a small puppy.. This dog is a very promising prospect, keen as they come, hunting, jumping, obedient and a very good temprement. He has been brought up hunting with a variety of dogs, bushing dogs, terriers, and other lurchers and shows all the signs of making someone a very competent dog. Do the guy a favour and only contact him if you are genuinely interested in taking on an almost finished product that he has put in a lot of time and effort into.

What do you use to smoke rats out with?
Spade end replied to stu_wat's topic in Earthdogs & Working Terriers
why ? Anything requiring Gas or Oil will struggle big time in sub zero temeratures. Gas will liquidise and settle in the bottom of the bottle, instead of pushing the vapour to the to the valve release. Oil simply thickens up, and turns into a jelly rendering it next to useless, unless it has been modified to deal with constant below zero temps. -

does your dog sleep inside or out???
Spade end replied to JRTMAD2k10's topic in Earthdogs & Working Terriers
My terrier lives indoors.. Would hate to think of him outside all night in the cold. Top spot on the Chesterfield to watch all the soaps in the evening, then sleeps on the bottom of the bed after he's supper. Lives like a king. -
Nice young dogs there... best of luck with them.

Hi all.. not posted on this part of the forum before, though i often use an air rifle for Squirrels, Rats etc. I am a fair sportsman, or would like to think i am and have often pondered over the effectiveness of my rifle for a fatal shot over different ranges/ distances. I have a fairly basic understanding of the trajectory of a pellet in flight, though none or any of it's effectiveness at certain ranges. In short.. I own a Air Arms S 200 in .22 and would be interested in any advice on what sort of range i would be safe in taking a shot for a kill. I may add, that i have shot and killed ou
