  3. They are both great bits of kit and although I tend to use the mk3 most of the time these days the mk1 is also a great peice of kit.Personly I find that if you keep fresh batteries in the transmiter and receiver and as has been said point the locator horizontal on search and virtcal on locate then I usualy get a fairly accurate result with it. The Mk3 is also great this time of year if your working in or around heavy cover bolting to a dog or gun as on search you can easly keep an eye on were your ferret is and avoid them wandering of unoticed. 4. Like you mate I've been at the job all my life and for the last 20 odd years used mrk1 locators and found them to be superb.never thought I'd buy a "disco carrot" as I thought they were to complicated for the job in question and I'd never be able to put up with that noise but at the beginig of last season i bit the bullet and bought one and a couple of collars to give it a go. to my supprise Ifound it to be a greaat peice of kit and I mastered it on the first outing and my 10yr old daughter git to grips with it before I did. Also the noise can be turned down via the pinpointer on the back if re
  5. Lots of very good points and answers for both sides of the debate.Personly I honstly beleive it depends more on the dog than the plough.I have a dog here that I would be happy running on any plough and confident that he would make his work look easy upon it as he has for many years without injury or issue however I have another that even though their build, breed and frame are almost identical just dosn't seem to master the art of it and my heart stops every time he races anywere near plough work as he turns into "bambi on ice" within a few yards on the stuff. JMHO ATB

couldnt say it better myself mate

  7. Wouldn't happen though mate....If a dog can catch hares consistantly on the fens pre ban and I'm talking winter hares given law not kick ups or summer leverets then I would suggest that it could go to most places in the uk and hold his own on the same daytime quarry. I use my "fendogs" lamping rabbits at night and although I dont claim that they are the best rabbiters in the world they do very well. However It does take time for them to adjust to striking early if they are used to to long daytime racing. when all said and done if a dog pleases the man or woman that feeds it and works it then

  10. No reason why your dog wont make a good en mate.I've known of quite a few bred this way or at least bred close to this way that have turned out to be realy good dogs. Like any other breeding mate you'll get good ens and bad ens but in my opinion its usualy down to th way its been fetched up and entered rather than the breeding that seals the deal. Best of luck with your pup fella and I hope it does all that you ask of it. ATB
  11. sure do mate....At least 3 nights a week throughout the season. Some cracking ground about here and some top class sport on permission but very easy to come unstuck if your not as its very flat and very open. ATB
  12. Got to addmit mate I personaly havn't seen to many borders with soil on their backs but I have seen a few. a couple of them I would'nt give kennel space but you get wronguns in any breed,a couple were fair dogs and went about their work to an average standard. The other one I have been lucky enough to see work many times and she is awsome.Only a wee bitch, not much to look at but she'll reach anything anywere,She has the voice of an angel, perfectly willing to get stuck in when she needs to but very clever with it.The bitch is very well trained and as good as she is below ground she would put m

  24. Its a crap post aimed at folk that have to work, and have limited time to get out, there are no exlperts in digging, only diggers that have more time to spare than others, wake up, before you have a go at me, look at your selves, time and time again folk come to this section to learn, and all they get are self acclaimed hard men putting them down, digging needs more members to survive, but you wont get them like this, and once you become the minority, you will be outlawed like the so called upper classed horse and hounds folk, think on hard men Well I for 1 didn't think it was a crap p
