  1. Get yourself on Lambourn and try it, should be ok if you get caught. Find someone local and gain their trust and ask them to sort you out.

touch land around lambourn, not a good idea mate..i have most of the ground around there...i know the area well..welcome to THL anyway pal.. ;)

I have been given permission for some land a mates dad has out by me so will practice her retrieve and will send her out. If she did catch something and some people are sceptical, and rightly so as she is quite large what are the next steps to make sure the animal is dead, swueezing out wee and general care etc?

Do you mean in and around Lambourn? I have quite a lot of land just outside where I am so may try her out there first, I am working on her retrieve at the moment. Realise my mistake with the word Hare aswell so Rabbits only!

She is fairly fast but not sure if she will catch a rabbit unaided, I know a few people with Corso's who run them with a Collie that a freind of theirs has which seems to have a better success rate but they live three four hours away.

Not looking to rush into this so doing my research first as I am a bit out of my depth at the moment. I am not looking for a hand out I am happy to put the work in to get the knowledge just hoping for some pointers on the way on how to get started and really to see if she would be suited to this type of quarry.

  3. Hi All,

I am new to all of this and am looking for someone to point me in the direction of previous posts on the forum to get me started. I have a Cane Corso with a very keen sense of smell, she is quite quick and has so far managed to catch a couple of pigeons.

Will she be suitable to game hunting?? I was thinking of Rabbits and Hares, I apologise in advance if I use the wrong terms or phrases I am very new to all this and would really also like to know of any clubs or groups of people currently meeting in the berkshire area.
