  1. "pulled out with work" - not sure what you mean?
  2. Well the facts would indicate that there is indeed a lack of mole catchers:- http://www.telegraph.co.uk/earth/environment/7824780/Mole-population-soars-due-to-poison-ban.html http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/10315612 http://herefordshire.greatbritishlife.co.uk/article/boom-in-mole-population-14113/ http://www.thisislincolnshire.co.uk/Growing-mole-population-causing-damage/story-13490636-detail/story.html
  3. Good idea and maybe the chance to move on and do some traps for friends or relations who have mole problems as the more you do the better you get at it. Also if you want to get in with local farmers for shooting permission offer to trap a field or 2.
  4. No more activity sounds like you hae done the business
  5. Well done on catching your 1st mole What sort of trap did you use?
  6. I have emailed this company several times and they initially said "yeah genuine" but when I asked them if they were stamped 'Talpex' and how many coils on the spring they never replied. So I agree with Le Braconnier one to avoid and I will stick with ratbait. atb Dave.
  7. Hi, I am looking to get some more genuine Talpex traps to add to the ones I got from ratbait.co.uk and found this site:- http://www.boltmeup.com/1-x--genuine-talpex--no--handles--type-mole--rabbit-trap-strong-best-brand-26235-p.asp On ratbait they are working out at £8.40 a trap + p&p where as on the site above they are about a fiver with no delivery cost. This makes me wonder if they really are genuine although they say they are on the site. I have emailed the company to ask a few questions along these lines - no reply yet. I tried ringing them too but did not get an an
  8. I got my talpex traps from www.ratbait.co.uk too and can vouch they are the real mccoy as are the duffus traps from www.flatpack.co.uk The only traps I have bought which I have been a bit disappointed with are the Talpa traps from Magnum trap company which after a couple of years of use have started to rust but they were cheaper. The talpex and duffus traps are as good as new. atb Dave.
  9. £4.50 for a refill and just had my tanked serviced which was £38 so good for another 5 years and £2 less than it cost me to renew my shotgun cert. The chap I see is Andy who is a nice bloke and into air rifles as well as diving. He is at Jackfield next to The Black Swan which is close to Ironbridge and Telford. Here is is site:- http://shropdive.co.uk/ He fills them while you wait and there is ample parking atb Dave.
  10. I have air arms S510 with a walnut stock which I did not want to drill so make a handy set of shooting sticks for a few quid - see pic. The sticks and foam came from B&Q whilst the rubber was an old inner tube. I shot 3 squirrels today using them so they work a treat
  11. Yes great video as always Does anyone have an idea when Nite Site are being out there hand held spotter. The website says "soon" but its being saying that for a while. atb Dave
  12. Thanks for the nice comments chaps and glad you like my pics atb Dave.
  13. I have a combro cb-625 mk4 too and agree good piece of kit. I always wanted to buy the alienment tool that went with it but its never in stock :-( atb Dave.
  14. I was out Saturday afternoon with the AA S510 after squirrels as being sunny a day they seem to be more in abundance. I shot 3 but the best was the first one which I stalked to 30m which is my zero point. Shooting off one knee the .177 AA field hit the sweet spot as the picture below shows. However it must have been an instant kill as the squirrel still had the acorn in its mouth it had just forage so I thought interesting pics to share. atb Dave.
  15. An NV unit that fits onto the end of a scope would be great as I cant help but feel the Nite Site stuff is a bit "Heath Robinson"
  16. Yes sound advice as thats exactly where I got my duffus and talpex traps from. Also if you are going to do a lot of mole catching it might be worth buying a 'dibber' and I got my from Flatpack too. There are a couple of booklets written by Simon Bollons which cover the basics for each type of traps which are worth a read if you are new to mole catching - again from Flatpack and here is link:- https://www.theflatpack.co.uk/merchantmanager/index.php?cPath=7 Best of luck. Dave.
  17. Same as above. In fact if you watch some of the night vision shoot videos on here and 'you tube' particularly on rats you can see the pellet streak to its target everytime. atb Dave.
  18. I did double take when I saw your pic as it look just like my kit - is the trowel from Wilko and where did u get the Talpex traps from? I totally agree that this is a great way to get permission and have done the same myself. Do a good job for the farmer and catch the moles for free (show him your catch) then build on the relationship. Maybe even give him at hand at harvest time when he is busy and up against the weather when trying to get a crop in. You will reap your rewards. atb Dave.
  19. PCP everytime. No worry about scope creep, multishot mags and I like the fact I still have my cross hairs on the target after firing.
  20. 30m for my AA 510 .177 which gives me a second zero at 15m - a mil dot hold under at 20 and 25m and a mil dot holder at 35m
  21. Hi Lads, I've just re-charged up my AA 510 (.177 cal) back up to 170 bar and re-checked the zero with a 5 shot group at 30m. I was pleased with the results I got (middle target - 1 Inch diameter ) and thought I would post a pic for you to see. atb Dave.
  22. Cheers lads. Good point Moley. Although I do slightly favour my talpex traps in general it might be the time of year where the duffus traps is the better option. Ta, Dave.
