  1. in my opinion the words "pup" and "runs 5 mile behind bike" shouldnt be together in any sentence, especially if your worryed that its not taking enough fuel on board

  9. paul m... looked the moth up, the catapillar discription sounded good but then i saw there photo of one, early and late stage and i wasnt convinced....... but if it is thanks for letting me know there likley to give a rash, head ache, sickness if you get any of there barbs in your skin
  10. not 100% sure but the brown-tail tussock which is a type of moth, caterpillars spin tents of silk throughout hedgerows and trees, these have to be controled with pesticides as they devistate what they are on and have a broad taste in hedges & trees..therfore quickly becoming an epidemic... funny you say that as the trees didnt have i bit of green left on them, looked like a tree in winter....the only thing i could come up with was a yellow under wing moth????
  11. any one help me by knowing what dos this, the trees are covered from there bases to every tip with the webbing that you can see on one of the pictures. hundreds of caterpillars and no birds eating them either ..
  12. If you could trace a patterdales or any other working terriers bloodlines back a couple of hundred years you would find more than a bit of bull blood in it JMO that may well be true, but i think the original question was "is there need to add staff blood to patt" i took this to be adding it to the fells/patts of today.. ok i could of worded my orig replie a little better
  13. TOTALLY DISAGREE WITH THAT AS PATTERDALES HAVE A MUCH HIGHER PREY DRIVE AND A NATURAL INSTINCT TO CHASE KILL AND GO TO GROUND. TRY TO BE A BIT FIRMER WITH THEM AS IT WILL PAY OFF IN THE LONG RUN. JRT PLUMMERS ETC ARE FAR MORE OBIDIENT THAN A PAT. JUST TRY STOPPING THEM GO TO GROUND WHEN SOMETHING AT HOME WITHOUT A LEAD ON just like a spaniel has that over whelming urge to hunt, the labs over whelming urge to retrieve, the lurchers urges to chace.. etc etc etc he is talking about obidience training...... as a owner of working terriers iv found the best way to stop them going to gr

    must read

what a load of shit, no way.... someone was taking the piss me thinks, racing whippets my arse.
  15. i know alot of you begrudge giving money to the vets but get a tick remover off them,(small green plastic thing) the easyest, quickest, and certainly the best way of removing the little b.....ds . taken hundreds off me and the dogs and never popped one or left heads in yet, touch wood...... also i used to agree that they were not present/active during the winter months, untill this year, i was finding ticks on the spaniels right through the shooting season,so bang goes that theory, find a few on the terriers and hardly any on the lurchers
  16. train them as you would any other dog... theres no difference, obidience is obidience no matter what colour or cread your dog is
  17. think tomo is about right on this one, there will be very few truely wild polecats about now....

    Cubs

you have it spot on there mate.. i suppose all these people saying throw her at one of the winter foxs(which could well be a seasoned adult and not the 07 cub they were hoping for) for her first were the ones that had fights at school with people that they knew were going to give them a hiding. you just wouldnt do it would you start her of when you get a chance its all about buliding confidence, no wonder theres alot of lurchers getting passed from pillar to post because they aint doing foxs , if there all getting chucked in at the deep end....
  19. they must be trying to save forum space by not starting a new thread.. just kidding millet, couldnt resist
