  1. Well that was interesting! Last week there were fishing rising everywhere you looked. This week there was a wind coming from the east and all the fish were on the west corner. The wind was much stronger and made casting in to it very hard. Plenty of fish were caught but I drew a blank without getting as much of a single bite all day. The bacon butties were good in the morning though and by the end of the day were were knackered. We stopped for a coffee and a chat in the lodge and warmed our backsides on the wood burner. Shame I didn't catch a fish but it's allways good to get out. O
  2. This is posh fishing for softies They've got a smart looking lodge that sells nice food and nice coffee with a nice bit of decking overlooking the reservoir. Normally we're man handling half a dozen carrier bags full of sandwiches and flasks half a mile down to the water's edge. Last week I caught a 5 pounder and a couple of 2 pounders and lost 4 in a flurry of activity within 40 minutes. The others caught 4 or 5 each as well. Looking forward to testing out the new lines as well. http://www.arnfield-fly-fishery.com/Facilities.htm
  3. By that time the oil will be in European waters and not scottish or british. Nationality is destined for football matches and bumper stickers and nothing more than that.
  4. I agree with that. we don't care about what terrible things have happened in their lives we want to hear about the bloody changes they are going to bring. Not of em have done that yet as per usual they are paralysed through fear of upsetting smaller groups of people instead of appealing to the masses.
  5. Actually it would be much better for England if they did only vote for their own government. There's a few Labour strongholds in Scotland.
  6. What kind of dog is that? Vizsla?
  7. I think Labour will get in or form a coalition with Liberals. I then think the next term will see us swallowed up by the EU and then next election wont mean much at all since the EU will have total power over us. I dont see much real chance of any real change and Cameron the spineless has missed out of a few chances to win this election, namely a referendum on our membership on Europe. All we hear about are the small differences between the parties but nothing bold which is what people are looking for to single out the next government. This is the election of nothingness and we're going t

  9. Cheers mate. I rang up sportfish for a bit of advice as well, they recomended a WF 7 airflow sixth sense Di3 medium sinker and a Guideline 4 Cast Dry line. I think as my casting is pretty mediocre they advised the WF lines rather than double taper. We tend to fish sinking flies like buzzers on the dry line that drop just below the surface. I'm fishing on friday so it will be interesting to see if the change in line makes any difference. If not I'll have to find something else to blame!!
  10. I'm mostly fishing reservoirs and I have a hardy de-lux graphite 6/7 weight rod. I've found some advice online that says a good start would be a forward weight wet/intermediate line and a double taper dry line, does this make any sense? I assume that the double taper is for a lighter presentation of the fly. Also which weight should I go for 6 or 7 weight? Cheers
  11. I think Liberal are going to do a deal with Labour anyway so unless Conservative get a majority vote we'll end up with Brown again. That's worth thinking about when voting tactically.

    off topic.

They allways target people who are in some kind of difficulty, a bit like these debt management companies. A brother of some people we knew was a Johovas witness and used to make a point of visiting people in hospital obviously targeting people at their weakest.
  13. Thanks all for the advice. I've probably spent all my time with him socialising with other dogs and walking and not spent enough time trying to socialise him with people. He's had a few bad experiences with people coming out of nowhere trying to stroke him which has unerved him and I wonder if this has made him warry. It must seem intimmidating for him to have a human lunge towards him like that. I'm going to calm down and try not to over react and ask the people he growls at to give him a buscuit if they don't mind. The only problem is he only growls at people without dogs so alot of them don

  15. There seems to be nothing I can see that makes him do it, most of the time he is fine and even when i take him to busier parts of Lyme park he can be good as gold. The out of the blue he will do it. He's got better since it first started and I think when he feels threatened he is telling these people that he is a big tough dog by barking at them. He's had a few bad experiences thanks to muppets who think it is their right to be able to stroke him before he is ready and on more than one occasion I've had someone lunge out of no where to stroke him which has scared him. I still wouldn't desc
  16. I'm hoping this is just a phase. My Lab has started barking at certain people when we are out walking. He never barks at other dog owners and is ok most of the time but every now and then he will start barking at people and even growling at them. Today we were behind a family and he was fine, when they turned back towards us on a path below ours. As they turned he started barking. I know it's probably not a big deal but I'm getting really p1ssed off with people giving me funny looks or over reacting as if he is a killer dog. He's only 5 months old. Is there anything I should be doing to st
  17. Best of luck mate, I've had mine for 3 months now and I'm loving every minute of it. Looking forward to seeing the pics Still can't believe how fast he's grown, he's nearly 20kg at 5 months.

    Papal visit

People abuse their powers in all positions. Some are scout leaders, some care workers and some priests. I think it unlikely that this be confined to the catholic church, the C of E is much smaller so wont have as many cases and I'll also bet men of other faiths have done the same. The catholic chirch could do more but it's seems a bit like the latest band wagon. A paedo is a paedo regardless of who he works for and they tend to work their way in to jobs where they can abuse the trust of people. Its a religeon with well over a billion followers so they're bound to have bad eggs but for every pa
  19. The maximum of two terriers are used to flush fox's from their earth to be shot for only the protection of game birds. Thanks mate!
  20. I didn't know you could still use dogs for foxes? How is this done?
