  1. Decent size set up but a bit boring for them, not being funny but all 3 levels are the same, shavings and more shavings.. put a couple of carrier bags in, handles removed to give em something noisy to roll around in, or a small cardboard box with a couple of holes in.. its not only fun for them but it keeps them fit. I would also put a water bottle on the top level, would you want to walk down 3 flight of stairs to have a drink
  2. heres the thread link http://www.thehuntinglife.com/forums/topic/154028-stolen/page__p__1556318__hl__%2Bmissing+%2Bdogs__fromsearch__1#entry1556318
  3. Aye.. as said, give him a sniff and go from there, if hes too interested take him out for a while. wont be long till they can all mix again
  4. They are sorting out the pecking order, its quite normal and may get worse until its established, as Kay said bathe area or apply a bit of sudocrem to keep it clean. The young hob will need seperating when he comes into season or get him done at about 6 months.
  5. As the lads above have said.. could be either or, but as its still a young un and the runt it may just be a slow develepor.. is it up on its feet or on its belly ?
  6. Three cracking little poley´s there, hope they do well for you and your mates..
  7. If thats the pets at home brand its Vitalin is the best dry ferret food available, and raw meat on a night.. just remove and meat leftovers in the morning ( and plenty of fresh water if feeding dry food )
  8. Hope you gave her a good fuss for coming back..
  9. I can see both sides as ive been both, used to work mine for years ( health does not allow now ) but cant give up the little feckers as they are the best pets along side dogs. Mine are meat eating, jackets & feathers on pets, i dont take them to the vet if they have a sniffle but i know my animals and know when the time warrants it. I have had a few that did not like meat but once they are in with others that eat it they sharp learn
  10. Make your own mate, a lot lot cheaper and not as many additives. i use 3 parts olive or soya bean oil, 1 part cod liver oil & 1 part sunflower oil, and they love nail cutting time
  11. Sounds like she will do fine if she always has her head in the dish, just gonna be a small un.. I have a couple of attack ferrets will eat anyone else but me and the bairn..
  12. Slow introductions on neutral ground is the way to go.. Think of it from both sides, your jill in hutch ( feels threatened ) new jill thrown in ( attack or be attacked ) its a natural ferret response, i have had a few that do this, as above slow and steady intros.
  13. There is also a ferret show for anyone interested.
  14. Found this on a ferret forum i use. If you use Jeyes fluid to clean out your ferrets, you should be aware that the ingredients of the fluid has been changed, They have removed the coal tar acids and replaced them with a chemical that is harmfull to ferrets. It gets in through the ferrets pads and once its built up in the ferrets system can kill them overnight. I was informed of this info by someone on another site who quoted from the Shooting Times where they have been discussing the problem. i also did a google search on Jeyes fluid ferret and the stuff in the blue can be deadl
  15. No petshop rabbit hutches in my set up, have always made my own ( us lasses can use tools too ) and they are built to last thanks..
  16. They get bumble foot ( think thats what its called ) if they have to walk on mesh all the time, as for walking on their bedroom floor thats at the opposite end, and if its full of shit and piss clean them out more often.
  17. I know most on here work their ferrets.. but do you ever give them an airing at shows ?
  18. I have two ( out of 15 ) that cough a few times a day and i know the sound you describe.. ferrets do suffer from allergies and my mate also has one that cost a good few quid at two vets before finding out it was the ferret equivalent of hayfever.. gave a few drops on the vets advice of Pireton liquid ( meant for kids ) and he has been fine since. Ask you vets advice though to be sure its safe if they have already prescribed antibiotics.
  19. Im no expert mate but looking at the pic.. she is just shedding the rest of her winter coat off ( i have a couple ) plus jills can lose hair willy nilly in clumps due to hormones.. i would not worry it all looks fine & normal
