    half cross,3/4 cross whatever,all ye rate dogs on their cross and %,and stupid questions like whats a bull hound/collie hound/deerhound/greyhound/saluki/whippet etc.BOLLOCKS.its down to heart,drive and speed no matter what cross.i keep bull and wheaten crosses for foxes and don't have time for collie crosses normally but i've seen a few great collie bred fox dogs,ye all seem to generalise about things too much.

    if you go to a golf supplies shop you should be able to get a second hand electric caddy battery for 10-15 quid.they would all be between 20-24 amp,a better job for powering a lamp with 100w bulb.

    running a fox at night with a good lurcher is sport,shooting with a rifle is not.there was a post months ago in i think the deer stalking section of two little fat boys who had shot a whole litter of small cubs and then described what happened as "battle",they thought they were so brave.there is times of course when foxes need to be shot but shooting huge amounts on the lamp is not good.

    we use barking springers to knock foxes out for lurchers,i have also always kept digging dogs and they would usually be kept tied out in the country but i've never seen any terrier match a good springer for cover.i know barking on game is a big fault for the gun dog men but ours are fox hunting dogs only,we bred two great barking springers in the spring,eight strong pups,hopefully most will make the grade.

    there was a dog in cork 10 or 12 years ago,3/4 greyhound 1/4 drag dog,was as good on foxes as anything i saw and was quiet when running.

    good kick up the hole that muppet needs,lots like him selling shite on done deal,one of the best ones i saw is working lurcher for sale taking all game only for sale because pups on the way ha.another one was a one year old lurcher up for stud.

    from reading posts i get the impression that a lot but not all of ye will keep dogs not up to standard and make excuses for them,treat them as pets and accept what ye have.IMO any dog lurcher or terrier thats not good enough should be put down,this was always the way but i think people are getting too sentimental about poor dogs that should be culled out.too much shite being bred from shite just to make money.peoples standards of what is a decent working dog are very low a lot of the time.
