  1. I took on an adult jill not to long ago that used to latch on to my hand and not let go. Just stick at it, pick it up everyday and it will stop. And as everyone has said, its only a baby and babies bite stuff Good luck mate, Aaron.
  2. There's a lad on here called pencoed hunter or something like that, if you go through some old posts you will find him.
  3. red top fly traps. 7 quid off ebay. catches up to 20,000 flies and lasts up to 6 months. they just stink in the summer when you get a few thousand dead rotting flies in it but it does the job better than any fly strip. Best fly trap around.
  4. nice ferrets mate, roll on september.
  5. Thanks for all the help, I got her the jill jab today. She has been seperated from the kits since I got her as she was being aggressive towards them. She will let me pick her up now, I don't think she particulary likes it but she hasn't bitten me for 2 days. Cheers again, Aaron.
  6. Will do mate, the vets want 40 quid for a jill jab near me! I am getting one of my hobs vesectomised but I thought I had until next spring to get it done but obviously not. Ta for the advice mate.
  7. Sorry I did mean shavings, they have some old towels for the sleeping area. Shall I put her with a hob?
  8. Got a few new kits the other day from a guy down the road and ended up taking the mum home too as he said if I didn't want her he would just 'Lose' her. She has half a tail and would bite anything that moved. She isn't to bad now on a glove but I don't trust her with my fingers yet. But she has come into season again after only just having had a litter, is that normal? And also what's this about sawdust being bad for ferrets? Anyone had any problems, I'm finding it easier than shredded paper and hay, the sh1t comes out alot easier. Cheers, Aaron.
  9. I introduced my new hob to the exsisting one at the start of the breeding season and as you can imagine they didnt get on, they are now seperated. Will they not fight when it comes to september and are not so horny. I've kept two hobs together out of breeding season before with no problems but because of their first meeting will they still fight if i put them in together just for the ferreting season. Cheers, Aaron.
  10. Ok mate, got the wrong end of the stick. I don't like shooting the babies but I keep telling myself it's got to be done. Roll on september ay lads? Aaron.
  11. When one of your horses gets shot because it fell down a rabbit hole and broke it's leg I think you would be shhoting them in the summer, don't you? Every rabbit I kill get used so don't go making assumptions about my reasons without asking mate. Aaron.
  12. Basically, I sold a few rabbits at work the other day and one guy was moaning about a membrane covering the meat. I've never bothered too much with removing the membranes before, i've just eaten it. I shot a few rabbits earlier this evening ( much to the ferrets annoyance ) and decided to take the membrane off, it must have taken a good 10 minutes to get all the membrane off of one rabbit! but the meat did look alot cleaner and more appetising without it. Does anybody else bother taking it off and if so what's the quick way of doing it?! It's so bloody thin and gooey! Ta, aaron.
  13. Hi, I've just this minute ordered my first ever longnet. I've never used one before but have been an avid ferreter for some time now. The main bulk of the earths on my permission are under more horthorn than you can shake a stick at. It is vertually impossible to get in there to set purse nets let alone trying to dive around trying to catch netted bunnies. So the reason for my post is to ask simple questions like, do they just roll up for when I'm not using them or is there a nack so they don't get tangled, should it have a small amount of slack or a lot or slack etc etc. Sorry if this has be
  14. I've got some traps out, no sign if him yet. Cheers lads.
  15. I came home from work today and the hutch door was wide open, one ferret was asleep and the other was nowhere to be seen. I've set a few hutches and cages with some towels and rabbits in to try and lure him back. Is there anything else I can do to try and get him home? Considering one was still in the hutch the other one can't have been gone that long. Thanks, Aaron.
  16. They have a bit of pipe that leads from the hutch to the court and it's a bit of a squeeze so could be that. Thanks alot mate, put my mind at rest . Thanks again, Aaron.
  17. Had my 2 ferrets for about 2 years now, they are my first ferrets and are to brothers, one is albino and another is a BEW, both hobs. I know that bald spots are bad news and have noticed some patches of thin hair on the inner thighs on the back legs but they both have it exactly the same so I thought nothing of it and that all ferrets must have it. I went and picked up a polecat hob on Friday and he doesn't have any thin hair around his thighs. Do I need to get my 2 down the vets just to be sure or am I looking to much into it. Neither of them seem to be any discomfort. Cheers, Aaron.
  18. My two are really placid when I pick them up at home but as soon as they start working they will wriggle and scratch as soon as I pick them up. I've always put it down to excitment.
  19. Cheers. Do the mk1 boxes go wrong alot and are they easy to repair.
  20. Okay. I have big hobs anyway so I'm not bothered about transmitters getting caught up. So I can buy mk3 collars for a mk1 box?
  21. I know the collar is too big, I will cut it down. But is the actual transmitter unit that attatches to the collar too big? Ta, Aaron.
  22. Also can the mk 1 pick up more than one collar?
  23. Are the transmitters on the collars of the terrier finders the same size as the ferret one. I have just ordered one but it said terrier finder. Am I going to end up with a transmitter that's too big for my ferret or is of just the size of the leather collar that varies? Thanks, Aaron.
  24. Ta stealthy, I'll give it a wash and if it doesn't clear up by this time next week I will get him checked. Thanks again, Aaron.
