  1. Went out today with the ferrets on the farm we've had permission on since mid last season but have recently been given a few new fields. All the fields are split up into horse paddocks and rented out seperatly, the farmer had already told me he had a lot of rabbits over there and they do no favours for the horses with regards to ruining the grass and digging holes that could easily injure a horse. So we walked down there and saw a woman with her two dogs poo picking her paddock, we hopped into the paddock next to hers, walked over, introduced ourselves (very politely), told her what we were do
  2. What is the rusty looking stuff on the ferrets skin? I think one of mine might have it. Is it something worth worrying about? Cheers, Aaron.
  3. that silly twat at the end that jumped the train tracks deserved to get hit.
  4. Thanks alot for all the replies. I'll keep giving him treats and just randomise it a bit more but he is coming on well. Thanks again, Aaron.
  5. I read the other day that they can get to set in there ways with the treats and will get stubborn and not come when older. im thinking along the lines of if he wandered into a field with a combine and theres alot of people walking there staffs that have a go at anything round here. was told he is a saluki x greyhound with a bit of collie. As i said this is my first lurcher so its all a bit hit and miss. Thanks very much for the reply mate. Aaron.
  6. I have a 17 week old lurcher puppy and trainings going really well, sit, lay down and recall. But if i dont have a treat he will NOT recall. but if he knows i have treats in my pocket the second i shout him he will stop whatever he is doing and rocket straight over to me. its not annoying that he doesnt come back its just annoying that he knows what it means and just ignores me. Obviously at some point i wont have a pocket full of treats and will need to get him back before he hurts himself or something. Any advice on how to ween him off treats would be very helpful. Also, any advice on retrie
  7. i was told that if you have the collar you can use one of those portable battery radios to tune into the frequency, im not sure if this is utter bullsh1t though.
  8. Get the dogs and the ferrets and move to the middle of f*****g nowhere with nobody round for miles
  9. does anyone know the guy on here that sells nets? i think they were 10, 3'6, 10oz nylon for a tenner (or something similar) Aaron.
  10. Get the MK3 mate. I dont think they repair or do spare parts for the MK1 anymore. I've heard the MK2 is shit. You will never go far wrong with the MK3 (once you learn how to use it )
  11. The last few firms ive worked for dont care a f**k if you can lay bricks or not, as long as the walls up at 4.30 they dont care. Its quantity not quality nowadays. i got laid off (again) last month and now im looking into other options. But as has been said before if you decide you dont like it, it will always be there to back you up when times are hard or for a bit of extra pocket money on the weekends. Aaron.
  12. Fair enough mate. Its easy to get stuck in a rut though, if you decide it is for you and want to pursue it then you can always make your own business out of it. Just dont want to be stood on a scaffold at 7.30am in january at 60 years old lol. Good luck and hope all goes well
  13. deffinately mate, anything indoors that isn't weather dependant.
  14. Hi mate, i've been a bricky for almost 4 years now and when i started out i was just like you and loved it. But a few years down the line i've found myself driving up and down the country for shit money, slowly murdering my back and wrists, getting laid off here there and everywhere and during the winter i get hardly any work due to bad/anything under 3 degrees weather. Fair play to you though, all im saying is if i had my time again id be a plumber or and electrician. ATB mate, Aaron.
  15. Got nothing against shooting ( own a FAC and SGC ) but it annoys me that some people think its a case of buying any old mutt, showing it a fox/rabbit/hare and expecting it to run it down, catch it and retrieve it. I've put alot if time and effort into my dog and this isnt needed with a gun.
  16. ......only people who have a SGC or FAC but anyone can buy a dog  Your rifle doesn't need months of training and a constant fitness regime. Anyone can pull a trigger but not everyone has the motivation and patience to train a dog. They are handing FAC's out like penny chews down here anyway.
  17. Hi Aaron, No with each generation of bunny that has an imunity to the virus, the following generation will be that bit stronger in it immunity I would imagine that an infected Doe could possibly give birth to kits that have the disease though. Im not sure on that though. But its main route of transmission is via the flea Phantom cheers mate, learn something new everyday . We've been getting loads of myxi rabbits with the ferrets at the moment, sad really that people can do that. Aaron.
  18. I thought that there could be generations that were immune and then suddenly be a generation that could be infected from the parents that were immune, in regards to getting infected by fleas. I may be wrong but thats what i've always been led to believe. Aaron.
  19. I think the mods are a bit funny about all that, its not worth the arguement mate.
  20. between eye and ear. ive replaced the rimfire with this air rifle as most of my permission isnt really that suitable so do know how to shoot a rabbit. The one I had before it was sent away I zeroed in and turned the vertical adjustment round as far as it would go (upwards) and i still had to use 4 mildots at 30 yards, thats when i clocked something was wrong. where is the factory? Ta, Aaron.
  21. okay, can anyone reccomend some pellets that may increase the power of my rifle. Will the heavier the pellet make much of a difference?
  22. If its got mixi you should notice, it will have puffed up eyes and just look a general mess.I feed them to my ferrets too, just remove all the organs instead of leaving the kidneys, heart and lungs in. Also i got told that you can have 3 generations or rabbits that are immune and then it suddenly springs up from nowhere in their young.
