Hi guys, what recommendations for a reasonably priced rangefinder to use with my 12ftlb air rifle. Any good offers around at the moment?

Well after using a number of pigeons shot from previous trips I made a family meal of 'pigeon breast ciabattas' together with steamed corn on the cob and asparagus which went down very well with the whole family and so with a few brownie points I was able to have an hour or two back up the copse. Set up and waited although tonight was a bit of deja vue with two woodies shot and only one found due to the thick undergrowth. Also with the lovely weather a few people were out walking and so keeping the woodies away, Being well concealed walkers would pass barely two metres behind me but have absol

That can half hurt. Did I similar thing many years ago crawling at night under what should of been a single strand cattle fence, unbeknown to me I put my forehead right onto a lower wire, flash of blue and I was thrown straight back onto my back. Mate just pissed himself with laughter.

Nice shooting, I needed your best mate last night to find my second woodie. Is he any good at climbing trees? -
Too many family commitments this weekend so wasn't intending to get out but then a few spare hours this evening got the okay from the missus so quick as a flash grabbed the S410 and headed up the copse. As soon as I got there the leaf cover was very dense from my last visit and so there was only one possible area at the top where some trees had been felled earlier in the year. Whilst setting up a couple of woodies came in but I had yet to get the gun loaded so off they went. Once settled a couple of crows came in and presented an easy shot but just as I was about to squeeze the trigger I heard

I'm a traditional wood man but that looks brilliant. Love the mixture of black and dark green. Good luck with it.

Great shooting by both of you, hope you clean that boot, wouldn't want to explain that to a copper if I got pulled for a dodgy light.

Yes, a very decent fine beam that doesn't startle anyone in the neighbourhood. In the past I've managed several rabbits all within a few metres of each other before others have taken flight.

Hi Rez, it's just a £8 ultrafire red LED off the bay. Done a mod to it as recommended by mattbugeye by painting the reflector Matt black and replacing the flat lens with a £2 convex lens to focus the beam. Also use decent ultrafire batteries.

Rik and I headed up the copse again this evening to see what was about. Maybe the last time up there for a while as the leaf cover is getting quite dense now although it does help with concealment. We took our usual places and in the first fifteen minutes a crow landed directly above me providing a very easy shot. Then for the next hour or so it was quite quiet apart from a few magpies, a jay and a crow coming in but not providing any opportunities for a shot. Then a woodie did land directly above but the thick leaf canopy deflected the shot. Rik managed a nice woodie so we both had some actio

Great load of rat blasting, top shooting.

Very good shooting. We went out last night and managed three woodies as they came in and a single rabbit out lamping even though coditions were far from ideal. Leaves coming out will make the woodie shooting harder soon.

Great shooting again.

Got some good numbers up there, great shooting.

Top shooting, I have yet to have any great success with them, they're just to fast for me.

Going to give decoying a go tomorrow afternoon once the rain has hopefully pushed through. In case the pigeons are thin on the ground (or in the trees!) then will also have a go for any crows or magpies so some bait was needed. Out the house at 10:30pm, ten minute walk up the road and into the orchard, lamp on and rabbit in the bag with first shot. Good to see plenty more healthy rabbits around but left those for another time. Also two badgers walked right up to me with one literally sniffing my boots before running off. Back home in half an hour.

Nice, and like the grain and colour on that stock.
