  1. as long as your dog has plenty of bedding and is dried befor being kenneled i cant see a need for the heat lamp. Drafts are also a prob but sounds like you have a good set up there. Heat lamps are worth their weight in gold for the nursing bitch as well as helping to heal injured dogs
  2. a good way to wean ferret kits is to mash up compleat ferret food with warm lactol, make it into a poridge, they love and it helps the jill return to fitness
  3. glad to hear the pups are doing well. ive found in the past that a bowl of warm lactol helps bring the mother back after a litter of pups, also great for the pups when weaning them of their mother. I use it a lot with nursing ferret jills, stops the kits bringing the jill down. not wishing to teach you to suck eggs but in case you havnt tried Lactol it comes in a tin from pet shops, costs about a fiver but is worth every penny. For dogs you put 5 scoops into a pint of warm water and 3 scoops for the ferrets. Spot on gear. Hope the mother and pups continue to do well, all the best with them
  4. i zeroed my mates AA410 in for him and that has a right hand stock. got it bang on for him but i did find the top of the cheek piece dug in a bit. its well worth looking for a LH stock as the pros out weigh the cons. for the sake of 35quid you can get some good scopes, once you get one i dont think you will go back to open sights
  5. try also using green horse oils, the jelly form. works very well on cuts
  6. ever thought that the chicken chow main was a bit rubbery? may hav been mixy rabbits
  7. hiya oscar Im a left handed shooter and i have been using a WH95k fitted with a standard right hand stock. its not a prob using this stock as it is more or less a ambi stock. Ive shot most of the older type of springers like the BSA lightning and the webleys of the same era and have found their triggers not as refined as those fitted to the german made WH range. I bought the combo 18mths ago, cost me 245.00 quid new. It is a little on the heavy side when walking miles over fields but it has been a very good rifle, acurate and it will drop all air rifle target species. good reliable work hors
  8. Hi lindsay. you could try my local stockest Richardsons Quay St Halesworth Suffolk I know its a long way from you but they are spot on with the WH range. Just a piont of interest did you break the pistol grip as i did once with my HW80. Whilst cocking it the barrel slipped from my hand and slammed shut, if so check you barrel as it may be bent, mine was. Good luck
  9. i suppose for those of us who dont have the time for, or an understanding of such probs then a bullit in the head is proberbly the only option. not the right option but sadly a view that is held by to many PROPER LURCHERMEN. Still i suppose it is better to be seen as being a hard nosed dog man than a man with a open mind :realmad:
  10. I had a dog a few yrs back, collie grey x DHound. As a sapling she would start to give voice if she was slipped and didnt catch quickly. My advice for what its worth is TRY what i did(it worked) if you can take her out with another quiet dog, DONT BE TEMPTED TO RUN HER. Let her watch as the other dog runs, every whimper or yap give her a solid tug on the lead and a sturn NO in her ear. Do this both day and night as well as in her play time(you do let your dog have play time?)Dont be too keen to slip her on everything that moves,be patient with her and im sure she will come good for you.At 11m
  11. as a full time pester, i bought it for a view of another mans methods and thought that it was a well put together vid, well worth a look. I know that many will say that it only views the basics but we all have to get them right befor we can tweek them for our own needs. There seems to be loads of dvds that show how good he or she is, or how many rabbits he or she can catch but there isnt many that show you how to do it.
  12. I cant see that it would do the pups any harm, might be a bit rich though! try watering it down a bit,3/4 milk 1/4 water should be ok. try a small amount first and if the pups are sick or get the S**ts water it down a bit more. I must add that i havent used it myself so act with caution and make sure the pups arnt suffering any adverse effects, the last thing you want is for them to dehydrate. How old are the pups?
  13. I have a 3/4greyhoundxcollie who last year had a tumor removed from in between his toes. as a result of the operation there is now a large piece of the web missing. This was last year and all has been well up untill last week. When he returned from a hard course over moderately rough ground the outside toe was sticking out at 90degrees. It went back in a piece of p**s which worries me because is this joint now sloppy and will it happen again? One week later the swelling has almost gone and he is walking fine. Ive thought of having the toe removed if it happens again. I dont know if anyone has
  14. to help with the coughing and ease thier discomfort melt some honey in warm milk or water. worked well with my dogs when they had it last year.
  15. Ive used permanganate/potash (not sure of the spelling as the lable has washed off) for this, works great as it cortarised the wound. it was once used in tail docking, not sure about now try your chemist.

  23. hiya pidge. over the years ive had various collie crosses, the first cross can be a bit on the slow side. im not saying all are slow, just the ones ive owned or seen working. the dog im running at the moment is a 3/4greyhound1/4 collie. his dam (1st cross collie greyhound) was a little larger than him, he stands 24-25 inch. he is a well muscled dog and full of power, take off speed aint the best ive seen as my bedlington whippetX bedlington whippet beats him off the mark every time. once he is in his stride his speed is spot on.he has the brains as most do that ive seen. im not saying that a 1
