  4. as good as those poles of masterhunters may be, and yes i have seen and used them, £6 each is bloody expencive. if your working a 100yrd or nets to that length whilst ferreting thats a cost £132 just on poles for £20 extra the net loft do a basket, 22 fiberglass poles and 75yrds of net fully rigged and posted. when you look at it now do the poles at £132 seem like a good buy? not in my book
  5. Lamps i wont use this site to just make money and with that in mind i wont keep pushing my book thats due out anyday. But I honestly feel that you yourself would greatly benifit from having a copy of it as it will show you all you need, including a section on pair netting. You are in a position im not, you have a netting partner to help you out with your netting. if you both follow the simple guied lines i have laid out, along with the clear photos you wont go wrong. It will save you both time and money but more importantly you will catch rabbits and this will push you on in your results.
  6. Lamps. Im not having a dig but trying to offer a bit of advice here. Im assuming the way you set your net out was to run the net out and then walk back and place the pegs? when you were walking back setting the pegs did you hear any rabbits thumping in the hedgerow? the reason im asking these questions is this. You said you didnt catch any rabbits and im guessing that either there were no rabbits there or they knew you were there and bolted before you could set the net. Try and imagine what im now saying. If the drum was placed at the start of where you wanted to set the net, and then you
  7. anyone who likes or who would like to start centrepin fishing have a look here http://www.thehuntinglife.com/forums/index...showtopic=92382
  8. WOZ, you can have the fish for free (as long as you can catch it again), the reel is yours for a crisp twenty but the rod?????? I suggest you go look on this site www.norman-aggiters.com heres the blurb from his site about the rod in the picture Norman Agutters 11' "Specialist Carp MKVI" IMP - The Specialist Carp MKVI length 11', 2 piece rod with full 30" full cork handle, universal fittings, 1-3/4 lbs test curve. All through action rod to give ability in casting and foregiveness to play out large specimens on 10lbs or less test monofilament. Finished with open
  9. Made by Allcock model Ariel lite as in the picture below this is a usable reel as well as being a collecters piece and at £20 its a cheap piece of history. i will post it and can say its in very good condition im in east anglia
  10. in my honest opinion coming from from trying this many years ago its just to heavy and doesnt help secure their rabbits, this will lead to them loosing heart. a long net is designed to tangle, why take this away from a net by using heavy twines?
  11. that sites selling a deban made 4z 25yrd long net for £23.50. try looking on here http://www.thenetloft.net/main/home.html same spec net £20, and they sell poles
  12. that price of £ is i assume a price of a net made by oneself. Many folk just cant or dont have the time to make their own nets so go for the more afordable option of nylon ztwist nets. Im sure your aware of how many folk bawlk at the cost of a hand made net without them knowing the work that goes into one
  13. Trader, i woudnt want that lady on my split cane rod YES I *%$!*ING WOULD
  14. fat-ferret this is how i work the rabbit out, and bare in mind ALL my longnetting is done in the dark without a torch i have found this method works for me. 1, standing on the side the rabbit entered, slide as much of the running kill away from the rabbit. 2, push the headline (topline) away from you and pull the footline (bottom line) into you and hold it off the ground. 3, the rabbit will spin 4, this will allow you to FEEL where the net is not covering the rabbit when you gently place the rabbit on the ground 5, then its a case of slowly puling the net away from the rabbit like
  15. My own opinion on them as im sure you know is this, they are offering a solution to a problem that isnt realy there. OR to put it another way, why fix something that isnt broken. I have used them and to be honest i dont thik they work ny better than a single walled net as long as that net is set correctly. NRAT, to answer your question in more depth you may want to watch this clip http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=J4Kuu-FnB20
  16. LAMPS, perhaps you should read this im sure it would help http://www.thehuntinglife.com/forums/index...showtopic=88885
  17. why make it??? shurley its easier quicker and cheaper to buy sheet netting, you will have less trouble with knots slipping as well, my centiments exactly, if i were going to the hasle of making a long net it wouldnt be out of any Ztwist nylon thats for sure TOMO, yes mate go back through the same bight (loop) that was thrown. I know it sounds a bit picky calling it a differant name but it is in fact a differant knot. but hey you know how fussy we get over names, just try calling a suluki x grey a lurcher and the purists will start shouting LONGDOG
  18. isn't that whats in the diagram nope, thats a carric bend
  19. a good knot for z twines is a sheet bend with an extra turn, that never slips and it saves time by not having to double knot
  20. sounds very much like a hare gate net of the closing type, just like a big poke net
  21. have a look here http://www.thehuntinglife.com/forums/index...showtopic=88874
  22. Iwill be there mate, with your copy in hand and an offer of a pint in the other
  23. 200 mile trip south After leaving his home in Yorkshire at 5am, I picked Mistnet up from the train station in Norwich at 9.15. Having just taken a trip of nearly 200miles south there was no doubt that his desire to learn a thing or two about long netting was a strong desire indeed. The next two days would be about nothing but long netting for both him and myself to boot. With two nights of netting planned and the daylight hours in between going to be taken up with nothing but talk of rigging nets, repairing nets, setting nets and just about all things netting a busy two days was going to b
