  1. hello stu i live in lowestoft, on the norfolk suffolk border pm me a contact number and im sure we could meet up and talk nets till our ears drop off
  2. Of course all things netting come down to a personal choice but, i myself have made and used hare nets of a 5.5 inch to 6inch full mesh (not knot to knot) choosing to stick to a 4.1/8, 4.1/4 or a 4.1/2 full mesh for rabbits. At the moment some of my nets have a 4inch full mesh and they work a treat. On the smaller mesh nets i cant say i have seen anymore or less bounce offs that some rabbiters seem preocupied with. all nets will give you bounce offs just at night you wont see it happen. on the subject of the larger meshes your talking about, round my neck of the woods we seem to have smal
  3. the knot that masterhunter is refering to is also know as the fishermans knot as it is the type used to join a shock leader to your main line not the best pic in the world but i hope it helps.
  4. A modest bag but caught by a method most have never tried, good on you I made up a drop net system of 100yrds, more poles being made if i need them. havnt had chance to use it yet but i have a couple of jobs where it will pay divedends once used. Its kit like this thats time consuming to get right but when you do it opens up a whole new ball game.
  5. WILL COX........ dont tell everyone about the trad set long net, its a black art you see. I personally use both, i like the basket system but i also love the trad set nets
  6. its things like this that start a whole new culture of voyerism. or is it perving on a lower level?
  7. nothing today but i did see plenty of prints near to the tunnel mouths will see tomorow.
  8. yes oldskool i did see it last night. thing that bugs me is this. a short 5min clip then 1 min of discussion and then onto something totally un- conected. WHY? what was the point of that? ok, if you want to debate the possible rights and wronges of something fair enough. but to show it as allmost a gap filler seems very pointless. or was it part of a master plan?
  9. NOW TOMO,.......... i have to warn you about the dangers of leaving a loaded long net like that. you see its so easy to get yourself into some trouble on a windy night, in a lonely field just bursting with rabbits. you see you leave it there ready for use at a moments notice and your bound to use it. its just a simple slip under the barbed wire fence, or over the 5 bar gate and then your in deep you see. trouble is longnetting is addictive, like a drug, the more you do it the more you want it. SOOOOOOOOOOOOooo...... as a sporting buddy who would hate to see you in deep trouble, plea
  10. bullaces are a type of wild plum, only smaller. round here we have green, black and red as well as the yellow ones. they all make good wine as well as jam
  11. HEDGEHOG in my opinion corvids will go for the longer flatter surface of an egg laying on its side, where as a hedgehog will go for the pointed end. the rerason for this is its much easyier for them and their small mouths to let their teeth get a good purchase on the shell. then its just a matter of that long tounge of theirs to lick out the egg. As with all things pest control wise, have a look for signs as to what animal it is your dealing with, foot prints, droppings and things such as chew marks. Hedgehog prints Rat footprints Have a look at these two pics to see ho
  12. DITCHY,, in the first pic there is the drain cover leaning against the short wall, come tomorow there will be a mk4 sitting in there as well as a few other places around that compost heap. On the joist in side the wood store there is that lovely greasy mark along it where rats have been travelling, so tomorow i will take a few nails and another mk4 and place it on the joist. I know it will be safe from causing harm up there as ive spent time to check if there is any evedence of owl pellets or birds droppings inside this wood shed, if there was i wouldnt set a fenn in this manner
  13. A little job i was called to today was a matter of rats around and under a compost heap. I like to use the fenns as i find them compact and more than up to the job requiered. The first pic shows a homemade tunnel covering the fenn as is requiered by law, its hard up against the bin as there is a well worn path showing good recent foot prints this next pic shows again a tunnel and trap in place in a doorway to a wood shed. This door has been ajar for years judging by the well worn pathway the rats have made going into the wood shed. choosing not to disturb the rats to much i simply p
  14. aaahhhhhhhh the ole fs1e yammy now that takes me back to my youth. who remembers the old Mz from the chek republic? the one i had could do all sorts of party tricks, like bump starting it in 2nd while being pushed backwards and it would continue to go in reverse and it had the most awfull sounding exhaust on it, sounded a bit like RON DI DING DING DING DING...................
  15. try getting hold of the ghost rider dvds, blasting round germany at speeds of 160plus mans got some balls i can tell you
  16. oops........, posted same thing twice
  17. Hedgehunter......... you paranoid sod
  18. few yrs back i had an modle 52 with thumb hole walnut stock, slightly higher than 12ft lbs after i fitted a new spring. it was a real sod for letting me down after that. the little cast fitting on the side of the sliding breach broke twice, and at 16 quid a time was a pain. then the cocking arm broke at the point the pin goes through it so i droped the spring back out of it and ground it down a little to get it at 11.45 ft lbs and it was very accurate as well as smooth to shoot. very nice gun to own and i got plenty of pleasure from it.
  19. who is awaiting nets and goods from myself, please note.. there is a week long postal strike planed for this coming week. rather than leave your items sitting in some grotty GPO sorting office i will hold them back for this coming week. those that were posted before this date, 5th october im afraid your items are now in the hands of the gpo so i cant say on what date you will recieve your goods. sadly on the last postal strike some of you waited longer than should be expected from a 1st class post. I hope all concerned will understand such things are out of mt hands. many thanks for under
  20. its great to look back at old hunting related pics,
  21. was out last night with a well know scotish netrigger for a go with the longnets. Our weopons of choice were 2x 50yrd nets, 1 rigged in 6z and one in 4z, both rigged on end pins. We also had a 100yrd net rigged in 4z in the basket system the reason we were using both types of systems was for me to show the longnet basket in use and for him to see first hand how they work, ie: the setting and rigging of a fixed net. I was also able to witness for myself another netter at work with the end pins, something i havnt seen since i was a child. sadly tomany hopefulls enter longnetting with the idea
