I dont wish to piss on your fire works there buddy but to pay £60 for a 200yrd sheet of netting is VERY EXPENSIVE as it only make a 100yrd working net. now if thats the price you have paid just for the netting youve been ripped off, as for £60, that is the price i and most charge for a FULLY RIGGED AND READY FOR WORK 100YRD WORKING LENGTH LONG NET. would you be so kind as to pm me the details of the person you bought it off?

River carp, mad to give it a go?
mole catcher replied to mole catcher's topic in Fresh & Salt Water Fishing
It was great fun, they fought like lions and had my heart stopping a few times. Best thing was being away from all the sheep of tackle tarts that abound the lakes round this way. as arnie once said 'I will be back' -
River carp, mad to give it a go?
mole catcher replied to mole catcher's topic in Fresh & Salt Water Fishing
Well i finally had the chance to have a go at the river carp. i was lucky enough to get permission to fish a boat yard mouth with its tidal flow and plenty of over hanging trees. I used to fish here years ago but lost it due to idiots breaking into boats instead of just fishing so a total ban was put in place. I had a short 24hour session with 5 fish being taken (and a few missed) these are the 4 that weighed around the 10lb mark give or take a bit the top 3 are commons and the last is what i believe to be a very pale fully scaled mirror, as unlike the commons y -
I was fishing last week at about 30yrds with 1oz leads. I was fishing with proper slack lines as in the line from rod tip was hanging slack, not tight. I did have light bobbins on but they were simply resting on the floor and only rose once a pick up had happened. Let me explain why i was fishing slack lines I was fishing in 9ft of water and at about 30yrds. It is my opinion that with the water pressure being such on the line that was laying on the bed as soon as a pick up happened it would register on the line running through the bite alarm. AND NOT AS YOU WOULD IMAGINE BY TAKING UP THE

Ive been watching a set of underwater dvds on carp behaviour and the way our rigs effect them. It was a good set of dvd's made by Korda, you may know the ones im on about. It is hosted by Danny Fairbrass who, without a doubt sems to know his stuff as well as those on his team whilst filming the dvd's. There was however one thing he said that i thought very strange, and if im honest im not in agreement with so i thought i would ask you for your opinions on it. It was the following........ Quote ' I dont believe its the weight of the lead or the fish shaking its head that hooks the fish, i b

due to the amount of orders and enquiers concerning sporting nets, both long nets and purse nets i have been given the chance to get a web site up and running. This will give a full price list of all my nets as well as other sporting goods i will be able to supply. It has been my decission not to use this site, The Hunting life as a meens of just selling my nets and i wont jump on any thread asking about where to get nets. The reason for this is i get more than that from this site and dont wish to be seen as a money hungry member just wanting to use it as a meens of selling. This site has giv

Now i found him totally the other way when i bumped into him at the east anglian game fair last year. I was with my boy and we had just bought him his first float rod and we walked up and politely asked him if he would sign the show programme for the boy. he asked what rod did he have and what stall did we buy the rod from and a few more questions, after he signed the programme he stood and chatted to the boy about his hopes for the season and where i would be taking him. I must admit i found him ok and to be honest it must get on your nerves each time your out strangers keep asking the

nice poem lurcher lass heres one of my efforts A poaching we shall go To tickle a trout and take him out Of the babbling brook so clear, not even a sound and never a shout For I know the keepers near. To set a snare on that pathway there where the trods are so clear and defined, Will laden my table with such fare Of a meat that is so maligned. To wander at night with a desire to shoot At the lords most dignified bird, With a sack on my shoulder to carry the loot I pray that my shots were not heard. With a net in hand I scour this land For a place to set my de

sadly with the long netting game there is a lot of confusion concerning the use of either basket system or nets rigged on end pins. As stubby has said the basket system is simply a way of carrying the nets allready rigged to the poles, rather than attaching the nets on the netting field. The thing with all field sports everything is easy if you allready know or have been shown, it you havnt been shown it can all seem a little confusing. The sad thing also is many of those who know feel the need to belittle those who dont which i personally feel is uncalled for because, those who now know

Vale tudo came about as a way of getting the fudal war lords of centuries ago in japan to pit their finest fighters against each other for both money and honour. They even had sword fights as well as fist fights to the death. Believe it or not they still have fights to the death in japan, their fudal system is still going strong today. There wasnt the barriers of this style being called this or that and which was a better style, it was fighting pure and simple. Im not sure how you can say the ufc didnt come from Vale tudo, this has history going back centries and as a nation Japan holds the l

anyone remember the Vale Tudo compertitions from the late 80s and early 90s? there still going on today in Japan and thats where your UFC came from and all the other spin offs. Vale Tudo is as close to street fighting as possible and is a hell of a lot more nasty to watch than the UFC. Where as the UFC has rules such as no kicking to the head of your apponant whilst he is on the floor this is not so with Vale Tudo, prety much anything goes apart from attacking the love spuds, eyes and throat. thats where Royce gracie and rickson graice made the name for themselves as well as their brother Roy

well done andy, good shooting. your right what you say about that bit of land you have there, ideal for air rifle shooting with plenty of rabbits. Its good to see your marksmanship is improving, unlike mine on our last trip out Dont forget we have to sort out those rabbits on those horse paddocks as well as those in that cherry orchid so make a date.
