well our two month season is coming to an end not a very good one for us, weathers been terrible and only now is the winter weather making it self known, oh well the dogs have enjoyed many days out in duck blinds and swampland, didn't even crack a hundred ducks so they will have to make it up on geese and pheasants. few random pics anyway. nz paradise ducks. flooded paddocks make for good evening shoots the results sunset over the swamp i've been taking sika out alot the last week or so, sweep must be having a second puppyhood at the moment as we are having a few issues :?

very cool. had some aussie gun mag editors over last month on our shoot, they had a blast, last week of ducks here but still got plenty of time to chase the roosters. how did they find those chessies and the aussie heat?
-
go the 3.5 inch, they just fold geese mate............i use remington and federal and compared to a 3inch the bigger rounds are not even that much of an increase in recoil....those russians are soft to shoot anyway.

gsp be great in that queensland sun good luck clynt.

gwp......unlike alot of hpr breeds this breed was bred for large game as it's main function, they need very little training and bond close to their owners, they don't care what game you are hunting so long as it's hunting and they are doing it with you.

looks like your dog has very little huntaway in her, if she's silent working the bark factor will not be a factor i'd say. we have plenty of huntaways on the family farm and they are in fact a purebreed, as pure as your blue heelers aaron. bred to muster with a big bark and like endless energy...we also have a kiwi heading dog which is like a kelpie or collie, so don't bark. nz huntaway heading dog and another huntaway....heading dogs make good pigdogs, huntaways don't generally.

new zealand gamebird shoots

kids day went well, not a huge bag but enough to give them a taste of pommie driven shooting and plenty of dogs around working on picking up, pity the weather was terrible being mid winter here scruff showing the labs how to point pheasants. -
sako 85's are nice rifles, i'm not a fan of the weight though, i just traded down from a sako 75 to a t3 2506 and to be honest they both put them in the same hole...the money i saved was put into a good european scope. both the sako and tikka are top rifles.......remington do make good hair dryers.

been working my wires on a new shoot thats opened in our area and has been an experience working with the birds again, i worked for a while on a game farm back in 98 when i had a couple of good labs, the fact the farm had plenty of deer and pigs was not the reason i worked there honest been good dogging in and working on the steadyness training over summer but as the gamebird season has now opened here the time has come to do some pratice drives to get an idea on the flight paths so they can start shooting them.....we have a kids day next week so will post up some pics next week.

owned a number of winchesters, 30/30 and 44mag still own a marlin 30/30 thats been chopped to fit on the quad. owned a ruger no 1 in 22.250 awesome rifle but heavy and had a ruger no3 in 223. also had for many years a rossi 357 with the half mag...copy of a 92 winchester. also my uncle has had a 22mag winchester for years...good rifle. had a browning .22 lever action too

if ya using winchester subs the wax build up is the cause, i simple flush out with crc or wd40 will get you up and running again, i've had mine 20 years and never had a problem with it once you get in a pattern of cleaning it. never had to buy any aftermarket parts and it is a reliable rifle that keeps on going. the more you can wear them in the better just keep pumping the rounds in them. a squirt of crc down the mag will help too....i use factory mags and have no problems at all. they are bloody good rifles, the only thing i had done to mine is a mild trigger job a few years back and it'

a russian semi is a good bet........3.5 inch and they never stop

just a phase, they like to see how far the limits are and i have grown to just ignore the stages and let them grow out of it, i counter act there pissing around with quick thinking and not giving them time to dig there heels in, not entering the kennel can be fixed by grabbing her quick and stuffing her in, making it as messy and unpleasant as possible if she ignores being told to get in, giving her time to think about it, she will quickly learn to push simple commands. a more pc approach is to put her on a lead and walk her to her kennel. don't be afraid to go right back to basic training f

hi mate i have a dogtra two collar set very good quality and waterproof. you get what you pay for in collars and it may be cheaper to join a club that has one for members to use. you need a collar that will go down to a very fine setting and most cheap collars are junk that have very little control to suit the different dogs.....if you could borrow one it would be even better as chances are you may only use it a few times and they make expensive ornaments.......i know mine do for stock training i think they are awesome. ignore the posts regarding why you need one, i'm sure you would have a

With certain breeds as I stated in earlier post I would imagine they could have a place, but not for Spaniels and Labs. The starting point of the thread was a dog which ignores the recall, knows it but chooses to ignore it i've never met a dog smart enough to make the connection with you pushing a button and the dog getting a slight zap to correct it. T No never have I,but I am sure that in this case that the dog wouldnt have a clue why its getting zapped And to be honest Kiwi you hit the nail on the head when you stated as long as the handlers been trained in its proper use..unless

harden up mate they have a place, i'd rather use a collar these days for stocktraining than the old methods of a beating and thrashing the crap out of a dog.. the term electic shock treatment is both offensive and shows how blind you are to the use of them. i used to be anti them myself don't get me wrong, but i think you guys are making a mountain out of a molehill here. i have a set that i used for stocktraining an older dog, set in her ways on sheep and selective hearing on the recall the results i got from two zaps were unreal, and it was not even set to 1/4, fact the vibrate function

e collars are nothing more than a invisable check cord and should be used as such. they have a place in todays modern world and save alot of frustration and confusion to both the dog and the handler,so long as the handler is trained in it's proper use...the americans have lead the way in e collar's and training with the collar, why turn your back on new age methods. i've never met a dog smart enough to make the connection with you pushing a button and the dog getting a slight zap to correct it....

I don't watch Crufts anymore. The KC standards have become so far removed from what the breed should be I doubt that many of the dogs shown could do the job they were originally bred for. Look at KC Bassets and Beagles, they are totally different to the ones you see bred into hunts and I know which I prefer. i know for a fact the gwp winners are workers however in saying that they are straight german bred imported working drahthaars a good example the germans know how to breed dogs.

congrats all round mate....might i advise you to change your bullet choice, a 150gr nosler partion will perform far better on mr pig than a varmit bullet like the ballistic tip which can drill neat holes unless they hit bone. you need a bullet that will mushroom quickly and bullets like the partion will give you better bang flop results. is there domestic blood in the english boar? they don't look exactly like the europeon boar?
-
no! german sheepchasers suck for hunting dogs.

looking good mate.........don't worry about the stubborness they all have it
